first of all lara and i bought a car, a '91 volkswagen golf off andrew s. from work, the car is a piece of work. i'm beginning to think that the trailer-hitch bike rack that i bought for it was a better deal than the car itself. i still hate cars and am not getting my licence. the metro jam. possibly the craziest event i've ever been to. there
were no frills, no overpriced food, no hoochies up on elevated stages
dancing in silver outfits, no suv sponsorship logos all over the place,
just bmx. for those of you who have ever watched a (recent) bmx video
you'll have at least a bit of a grasp of what the heck real bmx pro
riders are capable of. at least that's what i thought going into this
thing; boy was i ever blown away. i saw unbelievable tech riding from
tobias wicke, huge airs to ice-pick and tire taps on an object that
shouldn't have even been thought of, and of course taj mihelich clearing
gap transfers that most people wouldn't attempt in a motorized vehicle.
i'm not even going to begin to describe all of the insane riding that
i saw. all i can say is that the whole thing was pretty damn worth it
and if you ever get the chance to see a metro jam do so. andrew mackaye (from work) also left for paris, france and left me his downhill bike, which was very nice of him (especially because of how much i make fun of him). however all of the trails are closed due to the lack of rain and resulting fire hazard. i'd write more news if i could remember it. |
