Interview for
DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by ARMANDO MUTILATOR :
Here's the inteview sorry for the delay there was a mix up. Hope you can
use it.
Your Gruely
Rico

DT:
When did you start playing?.
S:
SACRIFICIAL was formed in 89/90 by the MEIER brothers (guitar/drums) in Ribe, a small town in Denmark. They had previously played in other bands. I started in SACRIFICIAL after the break 96-98. I started playing bass and started singing about a year ago.
DT:
What memories do you have about your "LORDS OF TORMENT" (Demo 1991)?.
S:
The only memory I have is hearing it live and buying it. Before I joined
SACRIFICIAL I was a fan of them.
DT:
What style do you play?.
S:
I'm not good with labeling music. Nowadays everybody uses a bit of
everything, but if I was forced I'd call it Nordic Death Thrash Metal.
DT:
What topics do you consider in your lyrics?.
S:
The old lyrics written by JOHN (old singer) revolved around JOHN and how he experienced things. They were very personal and a look into the darker corners of a troubled mind. I write about what ever pisses me off, what ever strikes a nerve. If I get exited I know it's there. Lately I've written about terrorism, childabuse and bastards in general.
DT:
Do you think that wearing chains, blood, make-up and all that stuff
is important for you image?.
S:
Image is important. It's not all, the music should come before that. Well we don't use corpsepaint and such. We're not black metal and we think we look evil enough without eyeliner (ha ha). I can understand why some people use it though. Painting ones face is like wearing a mask, so it allows you to act out more. We have no problem acting out.
DT:
Your musical influences?.
S:
Ohh. A lot of old Thrash like TESTAMENT, FORBIDDEN, SLAYER a.o. but we also listen to stuff like THE HAUNTED, MALEVOLENT CREATION, DEICIDE and soon. It's a jumble of old and new as long as it's fast and well-played.
DT:
Your musical productions? (include rehearsals, demos, etc) If you
have more recording than those appearing above.
S:
1991 Lords of torment (Demo), 1993 Forever Entangled (album), 1994 Sadistic Slam (Demo), 1996 Authority (Demo), 1999 Breif (Demo), 2000
Erect:eloqent:extinct (album), 2002 Autohate(album)
DT:
What can you tell me about "FOREVER ENTANGLED" (1993)?.
S:
In 1993 SACRIFICIAL issued their debut album "Forever Entangled" . The album was produced by SACRIFICIAL in cooperation with JACOB HANSEN, and contained some harsh Deaththrash. Focus was put on both aggressiveness as well as technical skills. The album was well received, especially in Germany and USA, and of course in Denmark.
DT:
Are you into computers? If you are, what kind of computers do you
use PC, Mac or Sinclair ZX-81, Atari 800 XL, Commodore Vic 20?.
S:
I use a pc as does Luke and Krean. Don uses mac. Pc's are an invaluable
tool in our song writting. We live far apart so we send ideas back and forth over the net.
DT:
How did the idea of "AUTO HATE" (2002) ?
S:
We were pitcing ideas for titles and it just came to Kraen " how about Autohate". We loved it. The music evolved during the period after E:E:E. In opposition to E:E:E the songs weren't tested live on humans, and when we entered the studio there were a couple of songs I hadn't even played before. But it turned out great so no bitching from me.
DT:
Tell us a little more about the "Dominatrix" Music Video? Is it a
home video or a video clip compilation?.
S:
I don't know anything about that. We have a video? Kewl.
DT:
Ha ha ha!!!
DT:
Do you practice Satanist Rites?.... are you into Black Magic?.
S:
No we don't. We're atheists. We do play with satanic symbols such as
pentagrams and such but that's just metal not religion.
DT:
Of all your productions, which one has given you the most
satisfaction?.
S:
Personaly it's E:E:E cuz it was my first album, but as a band it's
Autohate. We only recieved one bad review for Autohate and the songs are
more aggresive. They are murder live.
DT:
Your future plans?.
S:
We're dicking around with new stuff. We're out of a record label so we either find a new one or we do it ourselves. And then ofcourse we'll do some sonic live destruction cuz that's what it's all about.
DT:
Your last growl for DT. Readers... where can they find your stuff?.
S:
You can always check out our homepage www.Sacrificial.dk with news,
guestbook and hopefuly soon some new soundbits. Last words: It's not so bad, put on some Metal have a beer and a wank and it'll all work out.
Metal makes the world go around.
