Interview for DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by ARMANDO MUTILATOR : 

DT: Hello HEIKO, How are you?
Heiko: Thanks! I´m fine

DT: When & why the band was formed? (current line up).
Heiko: The band was formed in autumn 1998. At first we played just for fun and we also began to play our instruments. 2000 we recorded a DEMO-CD. Today we are not satisfied with this old material! But today we know what we want and take ARS MORIENDI serious! The current line-up is MICHAEL WEGLEITNER (vocals, rythm guitar) THOMAS IBERER (bass) CHRISTIAN KEIMEL(drums) and me on Lead Guitar.

DT: Are you natural from Austria?
Heiko: Yes

DT: How old are you?
Heiko: I´m 21

DT: Who put the name and why the name of ARS MORIENDI?
Heiko: The idea for this name was from MICHAEL (Vocals, Rhythm guitar). At first we didn`t like this name, but after many discussions over the years we didn´t change our name! Also in the future our name will be ARS MORIENDI

DT: Your influences?.
Heiko: There are so many influences! In my early Metaldays there where these old school bands like old MAIDEN, METALLICA, MEGADETH, PRIEST and so on....I listened also to some Black Metal...Today I listen to all what is Metal...There are SOILWORK, ANTHRAX, IN FLAMES (I like the new outputs ;-) also Death Metal and some Metalcore like HEAVEN SHALL BURN... But there are many more, I only listed the biggest acts

DT: What memories do you have about your first days in the Metal?.
Heiko: When I turned into Metal, there was a bigger scene in our hometown. We had concerts with underground bands and all Metalheads where there!!
Today there are only a few people at Metal shows

DT: When did you start playing?.
Heiko: In 1998

DT: What do you think about Skinheads, Skaters, Punks and Straight Edgers?.
Heiko: I respect all sorts of people but I don´t like it if anybody destroys anything, hurts anybody and so on. I also hate things like racism! I also think that any extreme is not good, which kind it may be is not really important.
Everybody can think what he wants to, but everybody has to respect other opinions!

DT: Do you like drink beer with piss?.
Heiko: I prefer Gösser beer without piss!

DT: What can you talk me about your Debut Album "Dissimulated" (2004)?. Thanks for the CD HEIKO !!!
Heiko: We recorded this album from autumn 2003 to April 2004 im my own little Studio and then we mixed it at a bigger Studio in our Hometown! The album shows where we stand at the moment! We are satisfied with the result (Artwork and Sound)! There are five very good Thrash songs on it (30 Minutes)! At the moment we are planing a tour through Germany, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Austria to promote our album! 

DT: Are you crazy for cocaine?.
Heiko: No

DT: Tell us about the Austrian Underground Scene please
Heiko: We have many good bands in Austria but the promotion in Austria is worse! There are not many bands wich are on an international Level!! I hope that in future we will have more international bands!

DT: Your fave Austrian food?
Heiko: Grammelknödel with Sauerkraut! I think you don´t know Grammelknödel (I don´t know an english word for it)

DT: Do you like STAR WARS?.
Heiko: I like it but I didn`t see The Trilogy since I was 12! I only saw EPISODE I but I don´t liked it very much!

DT: What do you think about Religion, Church and Pope?
Heiko: I don´t believe in things I can´t see, feel, smell or anything! ;-)

DT: Are you into soccer?... Who's the best Austrian player from ever?...HANS KRANKL?
Heiko: I think so! In the past we had many good players! Also WALTER SCHACHNER was a good soccerplayer! He was in school with my father!

DT: Do you think that wearing chains, blood, make-up and all that stuff Is important for you image?.
Heiko: For me it is not important! ARS MORIENDI don´t wear stuff like that! Maybe it´s important for other band´s image but its not important for the MUSIC!

DT: Your musical influences?.
Heiko: My personal influences are guitarists like STEVE VAI, ADRIAN SMITH, JOE SATRIANI, JEFF WATERS and many others

DT: Rate the following Austrian Bands on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being somebody who totally sucks, and 10 being great.

DT: Your future plans?.
Heiko: At first we will promote our album (Dissimulated) in Autumn in Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slowenia and I hope other countries in Europe! Next year we want to record our first Longplay output. I hope we can release the next album on a Label!
