DT: Hello SAMMY, how are you?.
S: I am doing really great thanks and yourself?
DT: When & why the band was formed? (Current line - up).
S: SACRIFIST was formed in 1992.
Well for me it all started with a gentleman called BLACKIE LAWLESS back when I was still young and very restless. Ever since my first encounter in hearing good music (METAL) I wanted to make it you know get that feeling of POWER when one hears a guitar, one thing led to another and before I knew it I was well on my way to learning how to play the MOST power musical instrument. I am friends with a lady called AXE who use to live in the same town as me, she was signed to in-house records… real METAL babe if you wish and she in turn introduced me to her husband to be "PAUL VERSTER" now ex-guitarist, He in turn knew current drummer MICHAEL KIEFER, SACRIFIST was BORN! Recruited ANDRE LIEBENBERG as bassist and the rest is history!

DT: Your influences?
S: Well it ranges from old rock to the latest Death. I must admit that I am more into the melodic side of things although there are a lot of bands out there that really gets my Blood pumping
My list is as follows:
1. IN FLAMES.
2. HYPOCRISY
3. ENSIFERUM
4. COB
5. KATAKLYSM
Oh it would actually be so unfair to say that the bands mentioned above are the best out there. METAL RULES simple and end of story!
DT: When did you start playing?
S: 1992
DT: What can you talk me about the Scene in South Africa?
S: The scene in SA was quite big in the early 90's but it died down a bit? However it is really booming now, our artists are really getting better by the day! Sound out of our studios has improved ALOT And a lot of SA bands are really on par with international bands. It's fucking great to be part of such a cool thing! Of course special thanks to a lot people such as the guy and girl from Twilight-X. SIX PACK(JHB)
DT: What do you think about Religion?
S: There is absolutely nothing wrong with religion and what we humans believe in to be our salvation at the end of the day! What makes religion such a touchy subject is the fact that people make religion crap this guy believes that he is right and that guy thinks that this guy will be going to hell because of what he believes and you know what shit!
Like PETER (HYPOCRISY) says be your own god! Believe in what you think is right!
DT: Do you think that wearing chains, blood, make-up and all that stuff is important for you image?
S: Not a chance we never have and we never will. We do not need to paint our faces and look like sewer rats from limbo for SACRIFIST's music to be noticed!
DT: What topics do you consider in your lyrics?
S: I think it more mythical and personal and boy can we tell you stories about this Country and it's people!
DT: How is a gig with SACRIFIST?
S: Starts with a bang and ends with a bang! We really love it playing gigs, Obviously it varies from venue to venue I suppose but over all we try to give our best!
DT: Rate the following bands on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being somebody who totally sucks, and 10 being great.

DT: What do you know about Peruvian Scene?
S: Sorry to say but not much! Well obviously now I do!
DT: Your fave European bands?
S: IN FLAMES (I really think that they are musical GODS), HYPOCRISY, ENSIFERUM (Best folk metal band I have ever heard)
DT: What can you tell me about your discography?
S: Two CD's are released all gone but some MP3's are available for download on
www.twilight-x.com and www.sacrifist.twilight-x.com.
Busy with the third album which will hopefully be released during September or October this year
DT: What do you think about the Norwegian Black Metal scene?
S: I think its days of glory (early to mid 90's) have faded a bit. Some very good bands came out of Norway with some very strong causes. Their causes may not have been ones I agreed with but if they were true to their beliefs, then full respect to them! That's what METAL is about, being true to yourself.
Still, there are good bands coming out of Norway but I'm not into many.
DT: Do you prefer GOTHENBURG or FLORIDA?
S: Both, FLORIDA really killed at one stage - but more GOTHENBURG, that's more what we're into these days.
DT: Who designed SACRIFIST's logo?
S: SHAUN MOSELEY (Bassist)
DT: Which one do you consider the best Metal band from South Africa?
S: Tough question - I'd say it's a mixture of a few,

S: Touring, Touring and some more touring. Hope fully overseas as well!
