Interview for DEATHTHRASHER MAGAZINE by
ARMANDO MUTILATOR :

DT: Hello, how are you?.
Rolf: Fine, thank you.
DT: When & why the band was formed? (current line â€" up), and why do you changed the old name, INVISCERATED for KILL ALL RESISTANCE?.
Rolf: Originally a friend of mine and myself thought it would be funny to make a Christian Death Metal song as a joke. We didn't know at the time that there really were Christian Death Metal bands! As time went on this became more and more serious to me to start making death metal music (not Christian Death Metal!!!).
We changed our name from INVISCERATED to KILL ALL RESISTANCE because we're not a gore band. Two guys that were in the band at the time wanted a gross name. I wanted us to be called AGGREVATED ASSAULT, but there seems to be a band already by that name, so KILL ALL RESISTANCE was chosen.
DT: Are you natural from Niles, Michigan?.
Rolf: No, my brother (the only other member at the moment) and I were originally from Michigan City, Indiana.
DT: Your influences?.
Rolf: The breakthrough bands in Metal; CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE, VENOM, SLAYER, old METALLICA, old MEGADETH, BLACK SABBATH, EXODUS, DEATH, OBITUARY, NAPALM DEATH, old SEPULTURA, MORBID ANGEL, NUCLEAR ASSAULT.
DT: What memories do you have about your old band SOCIAL ENEMY?.
Rolf: We never got anything done. This band only lasted about a month and a half. Our guitarist at the time was very unreliable and was controlled by his shitty girlfriend. He was also our bassists ride to practice, so if our guitarist decided to be late for practice, so was our bassist. This pissed our drummer off. Besides all of this, our drummer and guitarist were not dedicated and were not familiar with anything that wasn't played on the radio. The only person that stuck with me to make music was our bassist, NATHAN BRITTON, who also co-founded INVISCERATED.

DT: When did you start playing?.
Rolf: Originally I didn't play guitar, I only did vocals. After SOCIAL ENEMY split up, I started guitar because nobody else in my area played any form of extreme metal. I was about 16 at the time.
DT: What can you talk me about your old INVISCERATED's Demo 2002 "Humanicide" and about the Re release of the song "4ft Nympho"?.
Rolf: It was myself on guitar / vocals, NATHAN BRITTON on bass, and AUSTIN CARLSON on drums. It was over a year after we had started INVISCERATED and already two members were replaced. Someone else sang before me and played drums before my brother. This Demo was done with very cheap equipment on a TASCAM PORTASTUDIO 4-track that cost $100 with one mic that was about $20. We did everything ourselves. At the time I thought mixing was only adjusting the volume of the instruments.
After this demo was released, we gained some recognition. Mostly people shit on the sound quality, which I think is stupid. I listened to the Demo yesterday and I didn't think it was as bad as some of the reviews said. Sure our playing wasn't tight, but so what? NAPALM DEATH's early albums weren't tight and didn't sound good but the songs were amazing, and full of passion. VENOM's old stuff had shitty sound quality yet everybody loves them. I'm not saying we're as good as NAPALM DEATH or VENOM, but I don't understand how we would be judged by our production.
Our re-release of "4ft Nympho" was to show the progress the band was making with our sound. We became a lot more Death Metal sounding and my vocals changed. This helped us gain some more attention locally and was put on the ATLANTIDA VOL. 18 COMPILATION. People still bitched about the production in reviews though.
DT: What do you think about Religion, Church and Pope?.
Rolf: I don't have a problem with religion in general. I don't have a problem with God either, it's not God that's the problem it's his followers. I think the Church brainwashes people and if you get someone really hyped up they're liable to believe anything you tell them. I think most Christians are a bunch of hypocrites and biggots. Do people honestly think that the Bible today is the same Bible that was originally written in Greek and Latin over 2000 years ago? Do people trust the priests that re-wrote the Bible hundreds of years ago? If the Bible were so true then why are there several version of it in the same language? Why the fuck is there a children's version of the Bible? It's all bullshit. I can talk for hours about the reasoning behind my beliefs but this interview is about the band.
About the Pope, I don't know anything about current living Pope. I know that Pope Innocent III once said "the Pope is below God, but higher than man, and is to be judged by no one". Fuck Catholicism. One of our songs "Kill All Resistance" is about the Albigensian Crusades led by Innocent III.
DT: Do you think that wearing chains, blood, make-up and all that stuff is important for you image?.
Rolf: No, it's not important at all, that's why we don't wear it. Make-up is better left to GWAR, Scandanavian Black Metal, and girls.

DT: Your musical productions? (include rehearsals, demos, etc)
Rolf: Our current discography is as follows:
INVISCERATED - Humanicide (1st pressing): 2002-September
INVISCERATED - Humanicide (2nd pressing with re-release of 4ft Nympho): 2003-January
INVISCERATED - Preceding Eradication: 2003-December
KILL ALL RESISTANCE - Demo 2004: 2004-August
DT: Tell us about your "Preceding Eradication" (Demo 2003)
and about the SLAYER's cover "Piece By Piece"?... "REIGN IN BLOOD" is the best Metal album from ever?.
Rolf: Our Demo "Preceding Eradication" was our first release since "Humanicide", and was made shortly after NATHAN BRITTON had quit the band. I did the bass/guitar/vocals, as I did on our latest release "Demo 2004". This Demo did us a lot of good in getting us respect in the Metal Scene and booking purposes. People compared us to Metal / Grindcore in the early 90's, which is our biggest influence. We covered "Piece by Piece" because it's a very cool SLAYER song and has no guitar solo in it.
I don't think "REIGN IN BLOOD" is the best Metal album ever. It's very very good, but I think that it is also overrated because every song has the same speed, all the songs sound too similar. SLAYER will never write songs like that again.
DT: What
topics do you consider in your lyrics?.
Rolf: Religious intolerance, lesbianism, non-conformity, staying true to yourself.
DT: Do you practice Satanist Rites?.... are you into Black Magic?.
Rolf: No, I don't practice religious rites. We are not Satanists at all, and do not care for Black Magic. My brother (and drummer) doesn't feel as strongly as I do against Christians.
DT: How is a gig with KILL ALL RESISTANCE?.
Rolf: Lots of blast beats, growling, fast guitars. Some mid-speed groove songs so that people are able to mosh to the rest of our gig. Between songs I might say something funny. Last night we had a nu-metal crowd who left before we played. The people that stayed just sat on their asses like they were about to sleep. I don't remember what all I said, but I do remember telling them that "it wouldn't fuckin hurt to stand up".
DT: Rate the following North American bands on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being somebody who totally sucks, and 10 being great.

WATCH THEM DIE: haven't heard them
DT: Tell us about your KITTIE's cover.
Rolf: This is the only recording we did with KYLE ASMUS on bass. We sped the speed up 20bpm and I do a little bit of Black Metal vocals in the middle of the song. I'm proud of the production. We did a KITTIE cover because we like their second album, Oracle. Fuck everything else they've done! We needed to fill our live set list so this was the easiest song to cover for us. We don't play this song anymore because it's boring and too simple. There's only 4 chords in the entire song!

DT: What do you know about Peruvian Scene?.
Rolf: Nothing, I'm willing to learn though!
DT: Your fave European bands?.
Rolf: CELTIC FROST, GOD DETHRONED, DARK TRANQUILLITY, NAPALM DEATH, VENOM, MARDUK. I want to hear more Norwegian Black Metal but it's hard for me to find it.
DT: Do you have the recordings from old times availables?.
Rolf: Yeah, all of our mp3's our on our website. www.inviscerated.aresexy.com
DT: What do you think about the Norwegian Black Metal scene?.
Rolf: I only know of what happened there in the mid 90's. I don't know much of what's going on there now. I do know that people in Europe have a better taste and knowledge of metal than North Americans.
DT: Who designed the KILL ALL RESISTANCE logo?.
Rolf: I did, along with the INVISCERATED logo.
DT: Which one do you consider your best recording?.
Rolf: Our latest release.
DT: Of all your productions, which one has given you the most satisfaction?.
Rolf: This one.
DT: Your future plans?.
Rolf: To relocate out of the shitty area we live in now to somewhere with a stronger Metal scene. Do as many shows as possible, get signed to a label that can book us for tours. Our music is our life.
DT: Your last growl for DEATHTHRASHER's readers?… where can they find your stuff?.
Rolf: Everything is on our website, www.inviscerated.aresexy.com. If anyone has any questions or requests please e-mail me at: [email protected]. Thanks for the interview!! It means a lot to me and the band!!
