MARYLAND SNOW STORM OF 2003

After a nice week of above normal temperatures and of terrorist threats against the U.S., most people were hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. Everyone was looking forward to spending time with their sweethearts on Valentine's Day. To going out for a nice romantic dinner or for a nice relaxing weekend vacation (we had plans to go up to Gettysburg ). But alas, the storm HIT!!! And HIT hard it did.

The snow started Friday Night, Valentine's Day, Feb 14, 2003

And it continued into Saturday with up to a foot and a half of snow.

And it continued into Sunday with another 2 feet of snow.

And it kept coming...

That is our car with the windshield wipers up

And coming...

And coming.

The car was buried behind 3 feet of snow.

Stop?? Stop where? And how?

The snow plows came and buried us even more.

I don't think we'll be opening that door anytime soon.

Hopefully not too much snow got up into the engine.

This is a foot long ruler on the roof of the car.

The snow did make for a pretty view though.

We finally got the car unburied enough to start her up. After letting it run for a few minutes, we shut the car off and went back inside for some much deserved hot chocolate...and rest.

Now we just wait until the snow plows come to plow the huge hill and roads out of our apartment.

Well at least everyone got to spend time with their sweethearts for Valentine's Weekend.
