William was born in 1811 in Dover, Kent and was the son of Thomas Valentine Bullard and Elizabeth Pankhurst. He was baptised at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Dover, Kent on 10 March, 1811. He married Mary Ann Hayllar in the Parish Church of Hove, Sussex on 15 September, 1834. On the 1841 Census he lived in High Street, Brighton with Mary Ann and his childtren Henry and James. On the census he is listed as working as a porter. In the Kelly's Directory of 1845 of Brighton he is listed as a tobacconist at 7 Church Street (see picture below).. He also worked as a tailor and a grocer. He died from consumption on 22 September, 1848 and was buried on 28 September, 1848 |
