Forest Ballard
Forest was born in Brighton, Sussex on 11 December, 1846.  His parents were William Valentine Ballard and Mary Ann Hayllar were living at 84 Church Street, Brighton.  He was baptised on 28 February, 1847 at Saint Peters' Church, Brighton.  He was married to Jessie Oman at Saint James' Church, Walton on the Hill, Liverpool on 17 March, 1872 and worked as a mariner.  On the 1851 Census he was a scholar and was living with his mother and siblings at 6 Church Street, Brighton.  On the 1881 Census he lived with his wife and in-laws at 31 Randall Street, Tranmere, Cheshire and was a seaman.  On the 1891 Census he lived at 15 Abbot Street, Birkenhead and worked as a dock labourer.  On the 1901 Census he lived with his son James Oman as boarders at 23 Sydney Street, Birkenhead and was a sailor.  He died on 21 January, 1915 from broncho pneumonia at Birkenhead Union Infirmary, Tranmere and was living at 75 Market Street, Birkenhead.
