Edward was born on the 13 November, 1843 in Camelford Street in Brighton, Sussex and was the son of William Valentine Ballard and Mary Ann Hayllar. On the 1851 Census he lived at 6 Church Street, Brighton and was a scholar. He got married to Susannah Simpson on 21 March, 1868 at Saint Mary's Church, Bury, Lancashire and at this time was a soldier. On the 1881 Census he lived at 20 Earl Street, Pendleton, Salford, Lancashire and was a musician who played the tenor horn. On the 1891 Census he lived at 21 Buxton Street, Bolton, Lancashire and was a machine agent. On the 1901 Census he lived at 10 Chemist Street, Bolton and was a general labourer. |
