| Applying Decals and Stickers | ||||
| You will need: A spray bottle with water, cleaning solution, Paper towels (or some type of drying towel that will not leave any fuzz on the surface), squeegee or similar object (credit cards work), needle or razor blade, small piece of masking tape.
Step 1 - Clean the surface where you are going to apply the decal. Step 2 - Turn the decal upside down with the back paper facing up, and peel the paper away from the sticker leaving the sticker applied to the application tape. Step 3 - Spray a mist of water on the back of the sticker and a mist on the location where you are going to apply to the vehicle. Do not use too much water, it won't hurt the sticker but it takes longer to bond to the vehicle or the surface you are applying it to. Step 4 - Depending on the size of the decal, line up the decal where you want it. Once it is centered and you are happy with it squeegee the decal starting from the center of the decal and going out in all directions. Continue to squeegee to help remove all the water from behind the decal. The water helps eliminate bubbles and allows you to take the decal back off the vehicle incase its not straight. Step 5 - Allow the decal to set a couple of minutes to dry. Try peeling the tape away from the decal, if the decal is not sticking to the vehicle but is still trying to stick to the tape, re-squeegee once more and use the hair dryer to heat directly on the tape to help with the drying process. Sitting in the sun will also have the same effect if you do not have a hair dryer. Step 6 - Slowly and at an angle, peel the tape away from the decal leaving the decal to the vehicle. Step 7 - Try to carefully squeegee any remaining water or bubbles from behind the decal. If this doesn't work, use the needle or Razor blade to pop the bubble then use your finger or squeegee to massage the bubble or water out. Step 8 - Allow the decal to dry thoroughly before you attempt to wash your vehicle or surface applied to. Do not attempt to use a high power washer near your car at any time with a decal present. The drive through car washes do not seem to have an effect on the decal. |
