Panwyn and Allureth
I don't know why you bother trying to look nice. Allureth told her rider as Panwyn finished putting up her hair. Panwyn smiled into her mirror, and whirled around to face the green dragon. Allureth was in her own "room", but Panwyn could easily see her from where she sat in the weyr. Panwyn had made sure she got a spacious weyr, with enough room for a dressing table and large, gilded, mirror that had been
in the family line for years. Panwyn was definately one of the most fastidious about her looks of all the greenriders, and Allureth didn't like it. The green dragon didn't understand why anyone would bother with how they looked beyond keeping clean. 'How you look is how you look', Allureth would say, and Panwyn wouldn't bother trying to explain it to her green. "Did you have a nice time with Folth dear?" Panwyn asked the dragon, who turned her head slighty in a dragon's blush and warbled. I always do...He is very considerate, and good looking. Allureth said shyly, and Panwyn laughed. Allureth's preoccupation with the blue suited her fine, since Folth's rider was equally handsome in Panwyn's eyes. "See love? You care that he's handsome. So why shouldn't I care if I'm handsome too?" It is different for you. Allureth complained, stretching her wings. You are female, females shouldn't have to Impress males. We are better, they must work to Impress us. Allureth stressed the pronoun, and Panwyn sighed. "Why? Shouldn't men feel like we care for them too? Do they have to do everything?" Yes. Allureth snorted, and Panwyn laughed. Her dragon was quite the feminist, totally unlike her rider. Panwyn was always concerned over what the men thought.... Don't know why. Panwyn told herself. I have Allureth, I don't need to worry about what anyone thinks but her. You're so kind. Allureth said sarcastically, and warbled again. Panwyn? Why are we switching wings again? I don't like Thamath's rider's wing. He isn't nice, and he doesn't lead well. "Sh'lal? No, I don't like him either, but he's short on greens. We must go where we're most needed. Besides, we won't be directly under Sh'lal's command. We'll be taking our orders from K'lor." Oh. Allureth said after a moment, and ducked her head shyly again. I like K'lor's Ilyath. He is handsome as well...and smart. Much better than a blue. Panwyn laughed again and turned back to her hair. She wouldn't bother to explain that Ilyath was as close to the black dragoness Yesereth as K'lor was to Yesereth's rider Ramala. Allureth wouldn't understand that. The dear green. Maybe Allureth could be persuaded to maintain an interest in Folth, for L'san was infinately more wonderful than K'lor anyway. Panwyn heard Allureth grumble as the green turned her head away to look out off the ledge. Glancing as far over as she could, Panwyn could just make out the shape of a smallish, but well-boned, brown dragon. Without warning Allureth lept from her ledge and glided easily after the brown. Pikarth. Allureth explained quickly, and Panwyn laughed. How she loved her Allureth!
