| J'ral sighed and scrubbed harder into Piloth's hide. Once dirty, the dragon never seemed to come clean. How the dragon got dirty, J'ral never knew, there was no mud in the Weyr at this time of year, just dry dust, and Piloth bathed daily. You'd do well to remember, without me, you wouldn't have I'thal! The blue said good-naturedly. J'ral sighed as prepared to explain, one more time, that I'thal would like him whether or no Piloth had caught I'thal's green Harrieth. Piloth, I'thal and I cared for one another before you flew. And we will continue to care for each other in the future, even if you don't fly Harrieth again. Oh but I will. Piloth put in quickly. Fly her again I mean. I rather like Harrieth, and she likes me. We will have closed flights in the future. I only wish I could have sired her first clutch.... Piloth said remorsefully. J'ral smiled and stroked the blue lovingly. "You weren't hatched when she laid her first clutch love, remember?" I know. Piloth chirped, and began to croon. She's coming now. I'thal is with her. I like I'thal. "I know you do, otherwise you wouldn't use his name!" J'ral yelled at his dragon, but he was grinning as he did. It was hard enough to get time with I'thal, they belonged to different Weyrs. They visited each other as often as they could, but sometimes it wasn't enough. We could go to I'thal's Weyr. Piloth said as he watched the sky for his beloved Harrieth. "What?" I said we could go to I'thal's Weyr. N'dor is their with Burkth now, so you would know more people than just your mate. I think I would like it there too. There is certainly more space there-they have fewer dragons you know. No. J'ral thought. I didn't know. Do I want to go to DawnSisters? It would certainly give me more time with I'thal, and I'd see my brother more. Not that that's a great thing in itself. All of Piloth's other clutchmates have left with their riders to different Weyrs. Why not me? Tripaldi doesn't need me all that badly. Good. Piloth said. It's settled. We'll go to I'thal's Weyr soon, and fight their Thread! Piloth bugled a challenge to his hated foe, and J'ral had to cover his ears. Fardling dragon. I'thal and Harrieth appeared from between then, and J'ral couldn't wait to tell them the news. |
