F'naru and Bronze Vetiseth
"original" riders at DawnSisters Weyr
F'naru watched as his bronze lug was dragging his way from the lake.  Fardling dragon, didn't even appreciate the fact that they'd been here for half a day already, and needed to go.  Vetiseth wanted to stay longer!

I do not. Vetiseth, with his calm voice, said.  I merely like it here.
"Like the girls you mean."  F'naru replied, for the lake was packed with greens and a few golds.  It was a popular swimming spot for those Dawn Sisters riders who wanted to get away from the Weyr itself for a few hours.  Vetiseth snorted loudly in a smart retort.
Yes, well, better than you!  You never have an interest in anyone.  It's not healthy....

What would you know about human love Vesy?  You're a dragon, your kind of love is fleeting.

Isn't always. Vetiseth mumbled, and spread his wings to dry faster.
"Right."  F'naru said, and watched his large bronze sunning in the mud.
Great. He thought, just wonderful.  I've got a meeting to attend, and all he does is bathe and then play in the mud!  What kind of wingleader would I make?  I can't even control my own dragon!
Oh dear. Vetiseth said, apperantly noticing the mud covering his belly and leg.  F'naru smiled to himself, and listened to see what else the brozne genius had to say.  But Vetiseth didn't say anything, instead he shook his wings one last time and dove back into the lake.
"Vetiseth!"  F'naru shouted, and was completely ignored.
Fardling dragon!  Why can't I ever get him to do anything lately?  Used to be we were so in tune with each other we could anticipate what the other would do to stamping a foot, now I don't know....

Do not worry.  Vetiseth said soothingly. I still love you.

No doubt about that. F'naru told his dragon, softening.  What could it hurt to let Vetiseth play a few more minutes in the water? The bronze deserved as much time as he could get to relax, afterall, if they did make windleaders, they'd have hardly any free time.
It was a while longer before F'naru called to his bronze that it was time to go back to Dawn Sisters.  F'naru didn't expect, of all the things Vetiseth could say, that he would say what he did next.  Which was,
We're not going back to DawnSisters.  We're going to Tripaldi. And Vetiseth pulled himself out of the water, onto clean sand, where he spread his wings to dry.
"What did you say?"  F'naru asked, in disbelief that his bronze would be so domineering.  He felt Vetiseth's rumble of laughter, showing a good natured intent, but F'naru was still upset.

I said, we're going to Tripaldi.
Noooo.  We can't.  There's a meeting today...I have to be there.

You're excempt if your dragon is chasing. Vetiseth said softly, and F'naru shook his head.
"But my dragon's not chasing.......Oh.....Ah...."  Vetiseth had never chased before, adn F'naru took the idea with mixed excitement and doubt.  What would it be like if the bronze one?  What would it be like if he
lost?  How would this affect him if he made windleader afterall?  Would it be denied him?

Do not worry.  Vetiseth crooned reassuringly.  You will make a wingleader, just the old one will substitute for you until we're back.  Tripaldi is a nice place, you'll like it.
  "Who are you chasing Vessy?"
Red Kiotinath.  She is so wonderful...
  "
Red Kiotinath?  She's red?"
Of course she's red. Vetiseth snapped, and pranced about. Haven't you ever heard of a rare?
"Of course lug!"  F'ranu shouted, grinning.  This might be some fun after all.  "But I thought you'd rather chase gold."
Why?  I like Kiotinath, I will chase her.  You will like her rider too, she has nice eyes.  Or so Kiotinath tells me.
"What's her riders name?  Maybe I've met her."

She is from Tripaldi, I do not think you would have met her. And that was all Vetiseth said on the subject, so F'naru just let it drop.
"When is this red of yours flying?"

Soon. Vetiseth answered, and then shook the last remaining droplets of water from his head.  He got up, and offered his foreleg for F'ranu to mount.  As F'ranu made his way over, he wondered what Tripaldi would be like.
Nice. Vetiseth said, keeping with his one word answers, and then keened anxiously for F'ranu to hurry up.  The bronzerider grinned and patted his dragon reassuringly as he reached him.
"No worries love.  We'll get there in time for you to chase your red."  And as they pair were taking off, Vetiseth trumpeted a loud challenge the echoed across the lake valley.
