| F'nian looked into the eyes of his brown Salleth and smiled. The poor creature and managed to entangle his wings under his hind feet and was 'bugling' his 'distress'. F'nian laughed as he went to rescue the dragonet. As he pulled the wings, gently, from under his dragon, Salleth reprimanded his amusement at the situation. You think it is funny that I fell? I cannot believe I chose you of all the..... "Oh knock it off Sal. You're the living end." F'nian rolled his eyes as he looked crossly down at his dragon. Or, tried to look cross that is. Sal's favourite retort to F'nian was 'I can't believe I chose you! Of all the worthy on the Sands that day, I picked you! What a mistake...ect. ect.' F'nian had grown used to it, he knew it was just Salleth's way. He wouldn't trade Sal for a wingful of bronzes, and he knew Salleth felt the same way. He'd been told they were paired well, and he believed it. Sal's calm, moody, personality often times kept F'nian from getting out of hand. Afterall, he had a dragonet to think of now, and it wasn't as if Salleth wasn't without a sense of humor. Quite the opposite in fact, Salleth was the prankster of all his clutchmates. Salleth eyed F'nian without amusement before snorting. I suppose if you must be mine, you might as well oil me now. "Whatever Salleth, com'on. Let's go and get you some oil." F'nian stroked his dragonet, who leaned in and crooned with pleasure as the they left to find some oil. |

| F'nian walked with Salleth away from that tiring practice. Thank Faranth that one was over, that was for sure. He hoped he'd never have to run such tossing drills again in his life. No chance of that. Salleth told him, not the least bit exhausted. Salleth kept turning his head from side to side, almost impatiently as he walked slowly beside his rider. F'nian patted Sal's neck and grinned. But the dragon merely snorted and pranced about as he walked. After a few moments he looked at his rider. Oh do hurry up Fin! I am hungry, and I need to be oiled! You're not that sore, you can move faster! "I'm not going that slow you brute!" F'nian laughed at his dragon. "Everybody else is moving just as stiffly as I am, and you don't see their dragons complaining!" Well, their dragons are silly wherrys for it then! I am hungry and need oiling; if they don't, that is their problem. Salleth snorted and F'nian rolled his eyes. Sometimes he wondered why Salleth acted the way he did. He was such a serious brown now, although his mood swings did go from one extreme to the other, and this was one of the extremes. 'All in the growing dragons' he'd been told, but no one else seemed to have the same problem. But then again, if Sal stood out from his clutchmates, that was probably a good trait. And Salleth was still a joker. Just yesterday he had "thrown" one of the other weyrlings into the lake. It had been a green, so moving her had been no problem. "We're here Sal, let me change my boots and I'll get you some food." Good. Salleth snorted, and wrinkled his nose as he watched his rider. But suddenly Sallet thought remorsefully of how mean he'd been to Fin lately. Afterall, F'nian didn't have the muscles he, Salleth, did, and so couldn't be expected to do so much so easily. And F'nian was a newcomer at the Weyr, despite the fact that he had been there at the Hatching. Salleth mentally sighed and turned to nuzzle F'nian. F'nian patted the brown nose affectionately. "What brought that about Sal?" You are tired, and deserve a break. I am sorry I was mean to you. Salleth crooned. "It's alright Sal. You're a growing boy afterall." F'nian wrinkled his nose, how he hated that term! After a moment of sensitivity, however, F'nian was growing uncomfortable. "Come on Sal, let's go get you something to eat." And with another mood swing, as unexpected as the one that preceded it, Salleth growled angrily, Yes, let's. |
