| "I still wonder why you want to go back to Rathlin. The place is collapsing in on itself, and most of the riders are gone." E'ryk told Noni as the pair were relaxing on the beach, watching their two dragons play in the sea water. Noni sighed, and looked over at the boy she'd became friends with, and the man she'd fallen in love with. Of course she wasn't about to tell him that. Not when they were going on their seperate paths in less than a sevenday. "Because E'ryk, I promised Alina I'd go back....she needs me there." "But she didn't need you there two turns ago did she?" E'ryk snorted bitterly. He couldn't understand why Noni would go back to Rathlin, back to Alina, when Alina had been on the verge of sending Noni packing because the girl couldn't Impress. She would have. Keroth informed his rider, and E'ryk rolled his eyes. She would have Impressed a green, and stayed in Rathlin, and never come to Dark Moon. I know Keroth, and I'm glad she came to Dark Moon.....but how could she want to go back is my question? You still don't understand. Noni views Alina's sending her to Dark Moon as a gift. She found Kozuth here, E'ryk noticed the brown's proud tone when he mentioned his clutch mate, and she found you here. Me? E'ryk almost squeeled that aloud, but checked himself. Why would she think of finding me as a gift as she does Kozuth? Because, Keroth went on patiently, you're the best friend she's ever had. She's usually so....so....Keroth struggled to find the word. Phyical? E'ryk suggested, and felt Keroth's affirmative "nod". That's right. She never thinks too much, it's always action with her. But she feels that you make her think, and she is grateful for that. E'ryk felt bitter at this, without knowing why. He never judged how Noni was a friend to him. She was just his friend, someone he could trust and turn to for help, but here she was, analyzing why she was friends with him! Oh get over it. A female voice said in his mind. E'ryk felt Keroth rumble with laughter, and he frowned. Kozuth. E'ryk thought towards the green, but she had already withdrawn. The only tender moments that green had was with Noni E'ryk suspected; for Noni always went on about how sweet Kozuth was, and how affectionate. E'ryk had never seen Kozuth be anything other than a sharp nail waiting to jab you, but then Kozuth wasn't his dragon, so he didn't know her that personally either. "She was desperate for her Weyr E'ryk. Even a greenrider like myself can understand that. She only wanted to do right by Rathlin, and be her queen. She's still desperate I think, and now Rathlin's falling out from under her...I should be there for her. She was never anything but kind to me, and she taught me so much..." "Kind?" E'ryk snorted. "I have a good reason to refute that." "You never met her E'ryk!" Noni hissed at him, and then shook her head, trying not to loose her temper. She could feel Kozuth pushing her to yell at the "stupid male" that obviously wasn't worthy of her time. Keep swimming Koz, I'll deal with my own friends how I will...none of your fardling opinions! Fine. Kozuth snapped, and hissed at Keroth as he got to close to her. "I know that." E'ryk replied quietly, and then sighed. "But I still don't understand." |
