The Swiss Flag
Wilkommen,
Meine Freunde!

(Welcome, my friends!)
My family originated in the Alps of Switzerland.  There are records of the vonAllmen Family as far back as 1350 AD. The Swiss are a very proud people with a rich heritage, and I am very proud to be a Swiss-American.  There are still members of the vonAllmen family still living in Switzerland today in an alpine valley near the town of Wilderswil.  The name vonAllmen comes from the old Swiss German phrase
"von den Allmen"
which roughly translates to
"the farm on the mountain."
When I have visited Wilderswil, I have had the opportunity to meet some of my Swiss cousins.  Some pictures from my visits are below.  Enjoy!
This is a view of the town called Lauterbrunnen.  It is located in the Alps just above Wilderswil.
This is the house in Wilderswil where my great-grandfather lived before coming to America with his family.

In the background, you can see the small hotel where I have stayed.

This photo shows a restaurant on the small mountain called "Allmendhubel," supposedly the namesake for the vonAllmen family.  I can honestly say that the view from the top of Allmendhubel is the most breathtakingly beautiful vista I have ever seen.  If you are ever in Europe, it is a must see!  (If you would like directions, just e-mail me!)
