Deep South Underground Mountaineering


We are a fledgling caving group based out of South-Western Virginia dedicated ot the exploration and preservation of cave and cavern systems. We pride ourselves in exploring hard to reach areas and focus on finding new accesses to unexplored or otherwise unreachable areas.



The Mountain Empire Grotto and Us

Our organization's current members are all members of Mountain Empire Grotto, so I guess you could say that we are a sub-group of the grotto who are a bit more cave-crazy then usual. Though most of our caving is done in the Bristol Tri-cities area it is not uncommon to drive a couple hours to find some new place to get underground. Mountain Empire Grotto serves the cavers and cave owners of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. They meet monthly at locations rotating through the Tri-Cities area.
