"Do you want me to pick you up after school, or you gonna walk?" My dad asked and pulled in front of my new school. "I'll walk. Bye dad" I said and gave him a kiss good bye. Well, before I continue let me fill you in. My name is Jessica Thomas. I'm 16 years old, and a junior. I just moved to Long Island, New York from Boston, Massachusetts. It was my first day in a new school. John Adams High. It's going to be weird since I don't know anyone, and I missed my friends back home, but I guess that's the way it's gonna be. To tell you the truth I was happy that I got to move. My boyfriend had just broke up with me, for another girl, so I guess moving was a good thing. Don't get me wrong I wanted to move to NY since I can remember. My ex breaking up with me had nothing to do with my decision (he was a plus). So when my parents told me that we were moving here, I was really excited. I got out of the car, and headed towards the main entrance. I stopped in front of the school, just before I entered and looked up. "Whoa, it's big" I thought to my self as I realized that the school had to be at least twice the size of my old one. It read in big golden letters "JOHN ADAMS HIGH" "How original" I said sarcastically and shook my head. I headed towards the door and just as I was about to open it someone pushed me out of the way. "Watch were your going. Stupid Freshman" Some girl with blonde hair, and brown eyes, yelled as she walked past me. "Good morning to you too sunshine" I replied back and walked in after her. "And for your 411 I'm a junior, you dumb ass" I said and started walking towards the main office. I was supposed to go to there to get my schedule and some other stuff. I walked in and saw Mr. Olsen (The Principal) sitting at his desk. He was on the phone, but he motioned for me to come in. I met him about two weeks ago when me and my parents came with all the transfer papers. He got off the phone and smiled "Well, nice to see you again Jessica" He replied with a smile on his face "you too" I said smiling back at him "Well, this is your schedule, locker, handbook and some other information for your parents in case they were not too sure about anything" He said and handed me a folder with all the stuff in it. "Thank you" I replied and took the folder from him. "Do you need anything else?" He asked as we headed towards the door "No, I'm fine. Thank you. Bye" I replied and walked out of the office. I took the map of the school, so that I could find my locker, and started walking down the hallway. I was half way down the hall when out of nowhere I bumped into someone. "You again! Learn how to walk" I heard the same voice again. I looked up, and saw the same girl who pushed me not 15 minutes ago "Excuse me, I wasn't watching where I was going, but you were so don't scream at me" I replied looking at her "Are you talking to me?" She said with a serious face "No I was talking to Michael Jackson." I rolled my eyes and walked past her, to my locker which I had spotted. "What a way to start of at a new school" I thought to myself and to my luck opened my locker on my first try. "Hmm, there's at least something good about going to school here" I thought out loud. "Yeah and the cute guys are a bonus" I heard someone from behind me. I turned around to a girl about my height who was smiling at me. "Hey, I'm Jessica. I'm new here" I said and extended my hand towards her. "I'm Amanda, nice to meet you" She said shaking my hand. Her locker was right next to mine and she seemed really nice. "Are you a junior?" I asked after I put my coat in the locker and closing it. "No, I'm a senior" She said taking her books and closing her locker "Oh" I said and heard her laugh "What?" I asked confused "don't worry about it I don't mind that your a junior" She said and pulled me after her "Cool, but umm where are you taking me?" I asked as she kept pulling me. "The gym, I have to meet some friends and your coming with me" "Umm ok" I replied and smiled. I liked her already. She acted like me and the way I would with my friends back home. After being dragged for about 3 minutes, we came to the gym. Amanda kept pulling me towards a circle of people, who I guess she knew, and everyone greeted her. "Hey girl sup?" One of the girls asked. She had brown hair, and brown eyes. She was fairly tall, and seemed nice.. "Hey Stacy, nothing much. I want you guys to meet someone, this is Jessica. She's new here." Amanda said and I smiled at everyone. "This is Stacy, Andrew, Ashley, Jacob, Brenda, and Greg" Amanda said pointing to each person as she said their names. The last person that she introduced, looked familiar to me, like I had seen him before. "Hey, nice to meet all of you" I said as I shook each of their hands. "Nice to meet you too" Greg said. I think he noticed that I was looking at him weird. "Is everything ok?" He asked looking confused. "Umm yeah everything's fine" I said and shook the thought out of my head. "Hey guys I g2g. I have ceramics first period, and it looks like it's all the way on the fourth floor. So I better hurry if I wanna make it on time" I said as I looked at my schedule. "Oh me and Ashley have that class, you can walk with us if you want" Stacy said, with a smile. "Hey as long as I don't get lost, I'm up for anything" I replied and everyone laughed. Before I got the chance to put my schedule in my pocket, Amanda took it. "Oh we all have gym together" Amanda yelled out of no where. We all laughed, including her. "Yeah Amanda, I think everyone knows that now" Andrew said laughing. We talked for another 10 minutes, and then went our separate ways. "So where did you live before you moved here?" Ashley asked as we walked up the stairs. "Boston, MA" I said looking at them. "Oh cool, so do you like it here so far?" Stacy asked as we finally reached the top "Well, I haven't really seen that much, but it seems really nice and I think I can get used to this" I replied out of breath "If you want a tour just ask any one of us and we'll be glad to show you around" Ashley said with a smile, and Stacy agreed. "Thanks for helping me out guys." I replied as we walked into the classroom. "No prob, that's what friends are for" Stacy replied and put a comforting arm around my shoulder.. During first period, Stacy and Ashley told me everything that I needed to know. You know stuff like who was the most popular guy/girl, the people who were cool to hang out with and who not to hang out with, and about the teachers. I had Advanced Algebra 2nd period, so we all went our separate ways. |
