A Wild Win

Barnes posted a short-handed goal with 8:37 left in
regulation in a tie and led the Dallas Stars to stretch
their home unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 3-1
victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night at
at American Airlines Center.
Stars left wing Brenden Morrow went in the penalty
box for slashing, Stars defenseman Jon Klemm found
a lose puck and passed it to Barnes, who one-timed
a shot past Minnesota goaltender Manny Fernandez for
a 2-1 victory.
Barnes, scored his ninth goal of the season. Dallas
last had a short-handed goal on Dec. 22 when Lehtinen
ripped one in against Carolina. Stu Barnes has now
made it Feb. 27 as the Stars last short-handed goal.
Andrew Brunette put the Wild up first, just 35
seconds into the second period, right before Stars
Philippe Boucher tugged the Stars at even at 1-1
tie at 13:17 mark.
Bill Guerin posted his 25th of the season, in a
rebound off of his own shot with 5:43 left in the
third.
The victory extended the Stars home streak to 7-0-3,
the NHL's longest and current streak. Dallas is
12-3-3 in its last 18 total, and has jumped to 73
points, now four points behind the first place San
Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division.
Minnesota lost its second straight game, they currently
lost to the Nashville Predators by a 4-0 score.
Manny Fernandez made the start in goal for Dwayne
Roloson, who was in Ontario for his father's funeral.
Fernandez has been winless in 11 starts since Dec.
13, and this was his only third appearance in the
past 15 games.
Stars next opponent is the Edmonton Oilers. Dallas
lost to Edmonton by a 3-0 score on Tue, Jan 20
The Oilers however, have just come off a 4-2 loss
from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. J-S Giguere turned
away 24 shots but saw a total of 26, the only two
that went past him where screened.
