Tugnutt
placed on waivers:
Ron
Tugnutt's days in Dallas seem to be over. The veteran netminder says he's
been placed on waivers and will likely be demoted to Utah of the AHL if
no one else claims him. While he calls the move "unfair", Tugnutt
says he will accept the demotion
"It's probably along the lines of unfair, but it's the way it is,"
Tugnutt tells the Star-Telegram. "It's just the nature of the beast."
Tugnutt, who said he will accept the demotion to Utah, is in the final
year of a deal which will pay him $2.8-million
joining the Stars in the summer of 2002, Tugnutt has been struggling.
Last season he was 15-10-5 with four shutouts but fell during a late season
stretch when starter Marty Turco missed a month with an ankle injury.
This year, he is 1-3-0 with a 2.57 goals against average. He last played
January 2 when he was pulled after allowing two goals on seven shots
