Triumph
at last-
Dan
Ellis earned his first career NHL victory in his first start, Marty Turco
could not make the game with his broken foot. Captain Mike Modano scored
twice in a 4-3 Dallas victory over Los Angeles on Wednesday. Ellis may
be some time away from being the big shot in net for the Stars. But with
Marty Turco getting a night off after playing in a franchise record 30
consecutive games, Ellis played a fit game, he made alot of saves including
three from Luc Robitaille. Modano had two goals within a 5:01 span of
the second period to end a six-game scoreless edge and complete a three-game
road. Jere Lehtinen and Brenden Morrow also scored for the Dallas, who
won for the first time in four games 1-2-1 since the All-Star break. They
moved past the Kings into sixth place in the Western Conference. Luc Robitaille,
Derek Armstrong and Sean Avery scored for the Kings. After Robitaille
put the Kings ahead 1-0 in the first period, Modano scored his first goal
by rocket slap shot past Roman Cechmanek at 3:20 mark of the second. Lehtinen
registerd a power-play goal to make it 3-1. Morrow added a power-play
goal in the third period a win for Dallas. Left wing Shayne Corson passed
his physical at the Dr Pepper StarCenter Frisco on Thursday, but that
he had one simple goal with the Stars-BOX SCORE-
