Sharks Swamped 4-0
Mighty Marty posted his 7th shut out of the
season and turned away 22 shots for the Stars to lead
Dallas 4-0 over San Jose.
Marty Turco now has his 19th career shutout, and
the Stars have set a franchise record, extending
their home unbeaten streak to 14 games with a 4-0
victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.
Turco accomplished a career high with his 32nd victory,
holding his seventh shutout of this season.
Turco has seven career stars against the Sharks,
and has won each one.
Marty Turco has done somthing he has never done
against the San Jose Sharks before, and that is
lost.
Jon Klemm and Pierre Turgeon set game up for Dallas
when they scored in the first six minutes of the
first, and Stu Barnes gave three assists to the
Stars.
Rob DiMaio scored again, he has scored in his last
two games. Shayne Corson has finaly put up some
points on the board for Dallas, when he scored his
first goal of the season with 5:47 left in the third,
to help Dallas pull within two points of first-place
leaders, The San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division.
Dallas is 10-0-4 in their last 14 at home, tying
up with the the Philadelphia Flyers for the NHL's
longest current home unbeaten streak this season.
These two teams have two more meetings this season:
March 16 @ Dallas and March 28 @ San Jose.
The Stars came out great in the opening period,
getting the first nine shots on goal to build their
2-0 first-period lead.
Klemm gave Dallas the lead 1:54 after the opening
faceoff.
Turgeon scored at the 5:28 with his 11th of the
season, which was setup by Corson.
Rob DiMaio stretched the lead to 3-0 Dallas at
the 10:11 mark of the second period.
Dallas will now go on a 4 game road trip, which
includes games against, Philadelphia-Thu, Mar 11
6:00PM/ Detroit-Sat, Mar 13 2:00PM/ Chicago-Sun,
Mar 14 2:00PM, and there first opponent will be
against Pittsburgh.
Whats werid is, the Penguins seem to be winning
right when there eliminated from the playoffs.
However, the Penguins lost on Thursday by a 9-4
score to Nashville.
Pittsburgh goaltender Chiodo made 32 saves.
But the Penguins beat the New York Rangers on Sunday.
Konstantin Koltsov and Ryan Malone scored late
in the third period Sunday, leading the Pittsburgh
Penguins to their first winning streak since December
with a 7-4 victory over the New York Rangers.
Koltsov broke a 4-4 tie with 6:27 left and Malone
stretched it 53 seconds later for Pittsburgh
