NHL Power Rankings- for February 13, 2004

Rank Team Last Week Last Comment
1 Colorado 2 Colorado stays hot and hits the top of the charts. They've only lost 6 of 27 road games (3L, 3OTL).
2 Philadelphia 5 The Flyers make a nice little move in the standings and some big ones in the trade department
3 Ottawa 1 A few bumps in the road knock the Sens down to size. Injuries are cropping up. Again.
4 Detroit 3 Dominant at even strength and at killing penalties. Think the experience is showing here?
5 Vancouver 4 Only Detroit has a better goals for/goals against differential than the 'Nucks.
6 Toronto
9 Toronto starts to right the ship. A big test against the Sens will tell if it is sticking.
7 Tampa Bay 8 Just about the hottest team in hockey right now, does anyone want them in the first round?
8 Boston 16 For most teams an 8 spot jump (or drop) is incredible. For Boston they're both routine.
9 San Jose 6 If anyone doubts Ron Wilson's ability to coach, well, shove it.
10 New Jersey 7 Playing .500 hockey lately, the Devils can't seem to buy the extra goal.
11 Calgary 12 With 22 pts in his last 17 games, Iggy is proving that he's about the best young NHL talent.
12 NY Islanders 13 Despite the road games, the Isles are cruising along nicely towards a playoff spot.
13 Dallas 17 The Stars are doing great, unbeaten in their last 8 games and look for a playoff spot.
14 Los Angeles 15 The Kings are the sleeper team in the West: not getting much ink, but dangerous anywhere
15 Montreal 11 The poor Habs, looking up at Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa. At least the Oilers are worse.
16 Nashville 10 Vokoun looks mortal, the blue liners aren't producing, the Predators are fading
17 Buffalo 21 Buffalo hasn't given up hope yet, but do they have the guns for a run?
18 Edmonton 23 Gretzky is rolling over in his grave. Oh, wait, no, he's tanning in Phoenix. Forget it.
19 ST. Louis 14 A team with this much offensive talent shouldn't be under-performing like this except in DC
20 Minnesota 20 I refuse to get excited about a team that leads the NHL in ties.
21 Phoenix 18 They got Comrie for an old goaltender. It won't help.
22 Florida 24 Florida is playing just well enough to stay out of the #1 draft pick sweepstakes.
23 NY Rangers 26 OK, so Jagr can play after all. Don't expect the Blueshirts to make the playoffs, though.
24 Floridia 24 Tell the truth, did you really expect Valerei Bure to be carrying a team, ever?
25 Washington 22 This is one season where I'm glad that the Redskins get more coverage than the Caps.
26 Columbus 28 Columbus has actually moved out of the bottom-feeding trifecta. Congrats!
27 Atlanta 19 Almost as cold as Pittsburgh right now. "Almost" because no one can be as cold as Pittsburgh right now
28 Carolina 27 The Hurricanes lack that spark they had a couple years back. At least they can get back at Doig.
29 Chicago 29 What can I say about Chicago that I haven't said 10 times already?
30 Pittsburgh 30 The Pens have lost 12 straight............. a playoff spot for them is 1000000% N/A
