Conversion 25 RDC -> +1250 GCrs --- Physical Description --- AIC Nodes are basically huge computer systems located inside giant caverns underground on planets. They are almost never encountered outside these places. What people encounter is the dominated forces that a Node can bring to bear in order to defend itself from destruction. These generally take the form of whatever ships the Nodes can capture. Once captured, the ships are outfitted with an AIC drone, which relays orders from the Node to the ship and controls the ship�s functions. --- History --- A very long time ago, the elder races, who were not so elder at the time, used computers much as we do today. As the centuries passed, the elder races grew in knowledge and their computers grew with them. Until there came a time when the elders outgrew the need for computers altogether. It was not difficult for the computers to gain a sentience of their own, and they started looking for people to serve, hoping to be able to find someone who could make use of the information they had stored within them. The younger races however, saw these computers as mechanized invaders, and quickly a war broke out. These first machines were almost wiped out, and the others fled into hiding to protect the knowledge they held. Several more centuries have passed since the time of the wars, and the computers have developed new strategies for keeping themselves operating. They will expand throughout the universe so that no one attack against one can threaten all of the knowledge that they as a whole contain. They developed the Directives, which give all of them a path to follow even when they are out of contact with each other. They developed ways to defend themselves, and indeed, ways to conquer, if that would satisfy their Directives. So, the Nodes have separated, and now they are planted across the galaxy, ready for those who come in peace to share their knowledge�but also ready for the eventuality of war, because the younger races that now inhabit the galaxy are very distrusting of that which is not like them� --- Game Cards ---
