--- Physical Description ---

The Wolvar are a race of bipedal wolves. Their home world is normal with no extreme conditions. It has 3 main continents mainly covered in rugged mountains and dense forest. Their culture is tribal based upon loyalty to the local pack lord. The Wolvar are a warlike race with savage tendencies dating back to their roots. They love nothing more than hunting and fighting. Although members of a pack are very close to one another, pack rivalry is fierce and in the past has inhibited the growth of the Wolvar as a race.

--- History ---

Constant warfare and the secretive nature of any technological advancements made by the various packs has only increased the conflict. Some 100 years previous to the current dateline a scientist working on a new neural weapon for his pack made a breakthrough and developed a pacification device that would alter the neural patterns and suppress the Wolvars warlike instincts. The huge amount of power required by this device and special focusing technology made it useless. In a raid their pack captures the remnants of an alien craft and it is discovered that the crafts functional power source could be used.

Understanding his pack lords desire to wipe out his adversaries to the last wolf, the scientist flees with the device and sets up a base hidden within a vast mountain range. With others he draws to his cause he puts the device into operation and pacifies the whole Wolvar world. Except for a few individuals violence ceases to exist for the Wolvar people. They have now become the "Var." With their brain patterns altered forever what follows for the Var race is 60 years of peace and technological advancement. A ruling council is formed with 3 main leaders and a separate sub council of 16 members from the main packs. The Var spread to the stars and enjoy an age of prosperity. Until the Var encounter several races that seek to capture and rule the Var people. This they do with relative ease now that the Var are incapable of violence. On some worlds the Var are enslaved and on others they are just ruled by their "protectors".

Some 15 years after this occupation the grandson of the Scientist discovers his diaries and realises what has happened and what he must do to set it right. He embarks on a journey to reverse the pacification device and eventually succeeds. In an instant the device, linked to all Var minds snaps away letting the withdrawn emotions of violence and rage surge back into every Var mind. A huge uprising ensues and in short order, at the cost of many Var lives, their alien occupiers are destroyed and the Wolvar once again a race amongst the Stars.

Present day, the Wolvar have learned from their past and now no longer fight amongst them selves. The council remains in place and they cast their eyes to new worlds, and they're not to happy how the other races have treated them so far.
