--- Physical Description ---

A semi-shifting race, the ShrakReen have three natural forms. The first form is that of a Human with Feathered wings, for atmospheric flying. The Second form is that of a human with thick leathery wings, intended for swimming. The third form is that of a normal human. ShrakReen

Bird form

Feathered, the bird form is a regal presence indeed, there raptor type head sits on shoulders which sprout both arms and wings on the back. There legs, the long legs of a raptor as well. A tall race standing 6-7 feet in this form. Colors vary but with the exception of the royal class they arent gaudy colors. The royal class often looking like parrots, peacocks and other visual displays of splendor. Browns, grays, blues, and some white are not uncommon colors for the other casts. While this form specifically enables them to fly due to its hollow bones, and light weight design, it is also able to move along the ground adeptly. A ShrakReen wings in this form would appear sort of like an angles wings sheathed on his back. Running is possible and corners can be taken quickly using wing assisted movement where there is available space for the wings. Starship cooridors are kept slightly wider than those belonging to races of similar sizes for this reason.

Ground form. 5-7

This form still uses hollow bones but the mass center of gravity moves distinctly down towards the legs. Legs in this form are powerful; wings all but disappear and are able to be put under clothing without a problem. Legs look more like feathered ratite legs. Great speeds are capable in this form but much of the cornering agility is lost. However long distance traveling at speeds of 30-40 miles per hour sustained for5 hours has been a prime historical leap for this race especially pre-tech.

Aqua form 5-6

Here we see some dramatic changes wings and legs shorten, feathers become a tight knit virtually impenetrable layer of insulation, feet are webbed. They do have arms, but are generally kept back to the side during swimming. A thin layer of skin appears over the beak controlling the nasal passages, preventing unwanted water pouring in to the lungs. Coloration changes here as well. Not dramatically but colors tend to shift tone darker on top and lighter underneath. Even though gills are not present it is not uncommon for ShrakReen to stay submerged for 60+min due to an increased efficiency of oxygen.

--- History ---

The ShrakReen were discovered during what could be considered to be their version of the industrial revolution. Unforetunately, they were discovered by explorers who had plans of subjugation through superior technology. The invaders were unprepared for the ShrakReen versatility, and were quickly overcome before they could even get back to their ships to take off. The ShrakReen collected the remains of the Invaders technology and forced the Invaders to teach them about the use of that technology. They were quick learners, and in a few short months, the Shrak leapt over decades of technological advancements to become new members of the interstellar community. Already fighting newly approaching problems of beginning overpopulation, the Shrak were quick to embrace the idea of colonization. Sadly, They found that most of the habitable systems around theirs (though not all) were already inhabited. They combined their new technology with their old ways of combat and fought their way to control the surrounding systems. Once colonies were sufficient enough to solve the over-crowding problem, the Shrak slowed their expansion to a crawl and began to examine more of the technology they had captured, as well as begin to develop some of their own.

They are pleased with their current situation, And fully intend on developing their technology and becoming active members of the galactic community, interested in sharing commerce and politics. Though they are generally looked upon well, there are some who are still angered at the Shrak because of their forced colonization.
