--- Physical Description ---

Amex Cooperative humans resemble the humans of 21st Century Earth in every way.

--- History ---

Amex Corporation was founded on Earth during the early 21st century as a resource exploration corporation that assisted various interests in the development of natural resources. It came to prominence shortly after the Second Gulf War of 2003 as the occupying powers of the Mid East sought to efficiently develop the areas oil resources. After that, Amex became the leader in development in other areas, such as the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), and the sensitive regions along continental coastlines.

Amex also proved invaluable in designing the first fusion engines that would lead to the development of FTL travel in 2045, and as Earth spread out, Amex pioneered many a colony for the purpose of offworld mining. One of the largest early Earth colonies was the Mars mining facility the picture of Amexs best and brightest working for a better Earth.

Amex had two problems however. The first was that in the mid 2070s, the leadership of the company agreed to a program of radiation experimentation on the colonists of Mars. This lead to acts of sabotage, where the shielding protecting the colony was compromised in minor ways, or the vac-suits of some of the miners was damagedall of this meant to expose the colonists to higher than normal levels of radiation in preparation for more hazardous colonization expeditions.

The second problem was the leadership of Jacob Ahern, who in the late 2180s started criticizing the governments anti-psi pogroms. In an interesting ploy, the government in turn exposed the radiation experiments along with tainted evidence that made it look as though the leaders in Amex proposed and went along with the whole thing. These revelations outraged the population on Mars, who promptly picked up and left for deep space. Amex Corporation was shamed into non-existence and Ahern disappeared.

The Amex colonists made their way past the settled regions of the galaxy and settled in what has since become the Riftlands. From that point onward, they have expanded slowly outward, using their resources and a few well-placed alliances with other races to build a decent military force for the time they ever need it. They continue to nurse a hatred of those who put them in danger for their own purposes and would not hesitate to attack Terran interests or military units if the opportunity presented itself.
