International Football League Icons (v1) by Daniel M. Smith (dsmith4@bayou.uh.edu)

Welcome to my icon set for the International Football League. All of these icons
were drawn by me and me alone, though the original helmet designs are courtesy
of Mike Pries and are used with permission.

For those of you unfamiliar with the league, here is a little background:

The IFL is a fantasy football league run by Mike Pries. The league has played
for the past several years and currently has 24 teams. If you want to know
more about the league, visit them on the web at:
http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/6957/ifl.html (and tell Mike I said HI!)

Here is a list of the files that you should now have, and a brief description
of each:

ifl.txt - you are reading it.
aztecs.ico - Mexico City Aztecs. The head of an Aztec warrior. Reuse of the
	WFL Honolulu Hawaiians.
blaze.ico - Atlanta Blaze. A burning flame. Reuse of the WFL Chicago Fire.
cobras.ico - Charlotte Cobras. The head of a cobra.
crushers.ico - Vancouver Crushers. A 'C' crumbling apart.
express.ico - Los Angeles Express. An 'LA' on the move. Reuse of the USFL
	Los Angeles Express.
firebird.ico - Louisville Firebirds. A phoenix rising. One of my favorites.
flames.ico - Phoenix Flames. This team's players run so fast that fire trailes
from the front of their helmets. Reuse of the WLAF Birmingham Fire.
grizz.ico - Anchorage Grizzlies. The head of a bear. Reuse of the WFL Memphis
	Southmen.
hellcats.ico - Hartford Hellcats. Head of a cat. Presumably a Hellcat. Reuse
of the ArenaFL San Jose Sabercats.
hurrica1.ico - Orlando Hurricanes. A styalized hurricane. Used in 1997. Reuse
	of the WFL Portland Storm.
hurrican.ico - Orlando Hurricanes. A styalized hurrican slightly modified. Used
	in 1998.
ifl.ico - Logo of the IFL. Reuse of the WFL logo. The real IFL logo has words
around the edges saying 'International Football League', but they proved
to small when I tried to do them so I just left them off.
knights.ico - New Jersey Knights. The head of a knight from chess. Reuse of
the WLAF New York/New Jersey Knights.
liberty.ico - Philadelphia Liberty. A bell. Just a bell. Reuse of the WFL
	Philadelphia Bell.
lightnin.ico - London Lightning. Lightning bolt captured by a hand. Reuse
	of the USFL Oakland Invaders.
machine.ico - Moscow Machine. An 'M'. Reuse of the WLAF Montreal Machine.
meteors.ico - Birmingham Meteors. A streaking meteor. Reuse of the WFL Florida
	Blazers.
nighthaw.ico - Berlin Nighthawks. The head of hawk. Reuse of the AranaFL New
	York Cityhawks.
power.ico - Portland Power. A 'P'. That's it. Just a 'P'. Nothing else.
renegade.ico - Milwaukee Renegades. An 'R'. Again, nothing else.
riders.ico - San Antonio Riders. Rider on horseback over a Texas flag. Reuse
of the WLAF San Antonio Riders.
screamer.ico - Seattle Screamers. A styalized 'S' over a triangle. Reuse of
	the WLAF Sacramento Surge.
sharks.ico - Sacramento Sharks. A shark. Reuse of the WFL Jacksonville Sharks.
stars.ico - Chicago Stars. A 'C' inside a star. Reuse of the WFL New York Stars.
thunder.ico - Toronto Thunder. Lightning bolt through a cloud. Reuse of the
	WLAF Orlando Thunder.
wolves.ico - Salt Lake Wolves. A wolf head in a circle. Reuse of the ArenaFL
	Connecticut Coyatoes.

While most of these helmets have indeed been reused from other football leagues,
in almost every case Mike made some changes to the helmets to customize them.
If you compare his helmets with the originals, I think you'll find that his
changes usually resulted in a nicer helmet.

And now a quick note on how these icons were created. They were drawn with
Windows Paintbrush and converted into icons using The Icon Librarian. Since
I wanted everyone to be able to use them, I only used 16 colors. This allows
everyone running early versions of Windows to put them on their desktop. This
is why orange helmets appear the way they do. I had to use a mix of red and
yellow. Not the greatest of results, but you get the idea. You are free to
use these icons on your computer, and to share them with friends, all I
ask is that you give me credit for having spent the many hours to create them,
and give credit to the original helmet designers for all of theri work.

If you are wondering about white facemasks and stripes, here is the deal. To
avoid having to come up with background colors for every icon, I've made all
white facemasks and white outer stripes light gray. This allows me to treat
them the same way I treat all other colors. I don't feel it takes too much
away from the helmets, but if you disagree, let me hear from you.

Along with the IFL, I also have icon sets available for the following leagues:

National Football League
American Football League
United States Football League
Canadian Football League
World Football League
World League of American Football
Arena Football League
All-American Football Conference
Professional Spring Football League (conjectural helmets)
Professional Indoor Footbal League
College Divisions
Other Fantasy Leagues
Custom Helmets

Check out my web site at http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Bleachers/4595/
to see which of these are currently available. If you would like to have the
helmets from your fantasy league made into icons please drop me a line. I'm
always looking for new leagues to add to my page.

Also, if you have any requests for any helmets at all to be made into icons,
just let me know and I'll try to put it together for you.

Hope you enjoy my icons, and let me know what you think of them! I love to
get feedback on my work!
