Gonna Have a Party!
By
Donna and Abs
Giles
was excited; the new Pony Express service had been sent off to inform those in
Camelot of the impending party, and he was hopeful of seeing Melissa again.
At least she could stand to be in the same room as he was, which
certainly was an improvement.
Now
he had to go and give Katherine the all clear so the festivities could begin!
Sarah
Jo accompanied him, of course, and they found her propped up in bed, reading to
Johnny. A fluffy little Siamese
romping around the bed, attacking fingers and toes every chance she got.
"Let's
have a look atcha," Giles said happily, a spring in his step and a gleam in
his eye. He was all too chipper for
the job.
Katherine
gave Johnny a kiss and a hug, and told him to go help Gideon for awhile, that
she would be ok. Johnny went out the bay window, leaping to his favorite perch
of a big branch, but didn't move from there. Connor had told him when he had
left on a short sailing trip that morning to keep an eye on Kat for him, and he
wasn't about to let her out of his sight.
"Hi,
Doc," she said merrily after Johnny left the room. "Gonna let me out
of this pleasant jail today?"
"I'd
be surprised if I didn't," he grinned at her. "Can't begin the fun till you're sprung."
He took a small pen-sized light from his pocket.
"Open."
She
raised an eyebrow at him and then giggled.
He
stuck the light in as she did so, which only made her laugh more.
"Now now, I'm not up to that part yet!"
Even for Giles, he was positively giddy.
"If
you only knew," she chuckled, a merry look on her face. "You wouldn't
believe some of the games I played with a certain Doctor that began with that
one word."
Giles
raised his eyebrows. "You
going to be giving me ammunition against ol' Ben?" His eyes slid to the
door. "I might be persuaded to
sign off just based on that."
She
leaned up and whispered something into his ear that made him turn crimson.
"Well, am I good to go, Doc?"
He
nodded. "Just don't start
hemorrhaging on me. No orgies,
please!"
"Scouts
honor," she said, crossing herself. "I will behave."
"You'd
better. I don't want to have to
keep my eye on you." He smiled
secretively. "I shall have my
eyes elsewhere."
“Oh?
And just who will they be on? A pretty little blonde perhaps?”
Giles
smiled. "If she lets me," he said happily.
"If she lets me." He gave the kitten a scratch, and then he and
Sarah Jo left. They saw Johnny disappear back into her room as they walked out
the door.
Sarah
Jo chuckled. "At least its only him. Connor won't be back for a couple of
days at least."
"Too
bad he'll miss the party!" said
Giles as they left.
Katherine
came bouncing out of the house a couple of hours later, heading straight to
Lupe's to talk to her about the food arrangements. Johnny was her constant
shadow of course, and to Lupe's surprise, he was actually wearing a shirt over
his loincloth.
"You
look good," she said curtly, which was about as good as anyone ever got
from her. "I have people out
slaughtering a cow and a pig. Maybe
a turkey too?"
"Sounds
good. There is plenty of fruit, so we can have a huge fruit salad. Sarah Jo and
I can cook up some pies tonight too," Katherine replied. "How are you
feeling? Little ones treating you good?"
Lupe
blinked, then realized she meant the ones she was carrying.
"Jonathan is always watching every step I take."
She cast a glance at Nathaniel as well, and the young man grinned
unashamedly. "He leaves spies.
But I am well. This is not my first litter."
"Good,"
Katherine said with a grin. They talked some more, and then Katherine left to go
find Methos to see if he wanted her to provide some of the music for the
celebration.
Methos
was actually relaxing at Joe's, so music was exactly what he was dealing with at
the moment.
"I'm
free!" she said, twirling around happily. "Hiya Joe. Long time no
see!" Dawson dropped his jaw. "Miss Keith? Is that you?"
"Sure
is," she chuckled. She then explained to Methos that she had been one of
Joe's physical therapists after he had lost his legs.
"You
were everywhere," Methos smiled. "You
and Duncan MacLeod. You knew
everyone."
"Having
friends in both high and low places comes in handy sometimes," she said,
sitting down beside him, smiling as Joe had to scramble to keep Johnny from
picking up every single bottle in his bar to look at. "Do you want me to
play? If I'm making music, I won't be getting into any trouble."
"What
do you want to play?" Methos asked. "I
can do a mean lyre but I doubt they have any in Edan."
He chuckled. He also seemed in a good mood.
"I
have me pipes now," she smirked. "And a flute. And some drums. And if
we wheel the piano out of the church, I can even play that."
"You're
an octopus now?" Methos said returning the expression and tone.
"Hush
old man," she teased. "One at a time, just like my men. At least for
now. I promised to behave."
Methos
raised an eyebrow. "Hey,
you're the one with two lovers. Everyone
else is taking them one at a time. Usually."
His eyes sparkled, very much like Giles' had, and she knew the doctor
wasn't the only one holding a secret.
Katherine
shrugged. If the men were not unhappy with the arrangement, who was she to
complain about it. As they talked about some of the things that had happened
during the two months she had gone walkabout, Katherine studied her old friend.
“You are altogether way too happy,” she commented. “I don’t suppose you
will tell me who and why?”
"Let's
just say you're not the only one sharing the affection of two men.
Just . . . we're not likely to cohabitate any time soon."
Any
further revelations were cut off by the arrival of Duncan and some others.
Tables were pulled together, and the plans for the party were hashed out and
finalized.
"Make
sure there is room in the wine cellar," Methos said.
"We're expecting company."
Katherine looked at Methos oddly, but said nothing. She would find out tomorrow anyways. Once all the plans had been made, she yawned, stretching as she stood up. "Well, time for a little dinner, and then I'm going to turn in early, everyone. Going to be a busy day tomorrow!"
