Lightning Strikes
By Donna and Ev
Rayden stepped out into the streets of Edan. It was a nice, warm night, but he could feel the instability of the air. All the atmosphere needed would be a good trigger, and there would be some nice lightning storms over the hills. As he thought about that lovely possibility, he smiled. His smile broadened as the lightning fae, Levina, showed up to join him.
She had a look of mischief on her face. "Rayden! The weather is perfect! Can you come out and enjoy it with me?" Her pale blonde hair waved enticingly in the slight breeze and her blue eyes shone with anticipation.
Rayden glanced back at the house. Ev was inside, flirting with Danzinger. "Sure," he chuckled, reaching out to take the fae's hand, his eyes sparkling with tiny lightning bolts.
"I can feel the lightning just waiting to start! Should we help it along?" Levina was practically dancing, she was so eager.
"Sounds like fun," he said, wrapping his arms around her. As he leaned down to kiss her, their feet left the ground. Once they were well up into the sky, they change, becoming bundles of electric energy, kicking off a light show that lit up the darkness.
The smaller ball of lightning began to zip through the clouds, teasing the larger one, leading him on a merry chase through the clouds.
Their energy provided the trigger that the unstable air needed and a good-sized thunderstorm began to build around them. Rayden, the god of thunder and lightning was in his element now, and loving every moment of it. When he managed to catch the elusive Levina, the joining of their forces send a deafening crack of thunder through the night.
She floated with him in the clouds, soaking in his presence and the lightning around them, extremely pleased with the world. There was no one else she could enjoy this with and he was wonderful. There was only one thing that would make this night even more perfect!
The two balls of light circled each other and danced in the lightning, merging again and causing another loud thunderclap.
Levina was even happier now. She could feel a sudden change and the presence of a new being within her. So this was what it felt like! So many of her sisters had already had babies. Now it would be her turn. She started playing tag with him again.
Rayden was delighted with all this playing in the lightning. He realized there was something more that Levina was happy about, but he was too distracted to ask at the moment. This time, as they kept drifting in the clouds, he reached out to her and she didn't zip away.
As he made love to her again, the storm moved on. Over the farms, past the Singing Creek Camp and on to the distant hill, lighting up the sky as it went.
