Double Dipping
By Donna and Toni
It had been a busy
night for Philip, helping the storm victims as best he could. And now, though he
hadn't slept much all night and was tired indeed, he knew he had to check on one
particular person; despite the fact he'd been told that she was all right, he
had to see for himself. So as dawn brought the end to the raging storm at last,
he slipped out of the church and headed to Fiona's house.
As
he approached the cottage, he noticed how quiet it was, even more so than usual.
He hoped all the fae were all right, but they weren't who he'd come to check on.
Being quieter than he himself had thought he could be, he slipped into his
fiancee's home. He found her safe asleep in her bed, and his breath caught as he
saw that all she was wearing was a thin linen shift that didn't do much to hide
her body from him. She'd kicked off the covers in her sleep, and as his eyes
traveled over her, he felt his body's reaction to the sight. Praying he didn't
wake her as he left, he quickly got out of the home and headed straight for the
nearest fountain. As he dunked his head in the cool water, he hoped it would let
him calm himself down.
He
tossed back his head, the cool water from the fountain cascading down his body.
But instead of having the desired effect that he wanted, the bulge in his pants
now was even bigger! He shuddered, said a quick prayer, and then ducked his head
again. This time when he came up, he saw Endora sitting on the edge of the
fountain, looking at him curiously.
“Endora....hello.
Are you and your sisters all right this mornin'?" He hoped she wouldn't ask
him what he was doing, but he had a feeling his hopes were in vain.
"We
are all fine," she said sweetly, cocking her head. "Umm, Father
Philip, do you have any idea what you just did?"
He
could literally feel the blush spread over his face, as he said, "Yes, I
do; at least I thought I did. I was trying to, um, cool myself off and calm
myself down after seeing Fiona, if ya know what I mean. But it doesn't seem to
be workin', for some reason." He again glanced down at the bulge in his
pants.
She
giggled behind her hand. "This is my fountain that you just dipped your
head into. And not only once but twice! That, my dear priest, means that the
next woman you lay with will be blest twice over!"
His
eyes widened, and he could feel himself pale. "Y'mean, when Fiona and I do
get together, that we.....with twins?"
"Yes,"
Endora said gleefully, clapping her hands. "Isn't that wonderful?"
Though
he'd been startled, he knew he wouldn't mind at all! But there was one other
person that had to be told, and told right away. Thanking the faerie for letting
him know, he steeled his will, and went back inside. Somehow, he made himself
remain calm as he gently covered his lovely lady while she lay still asleep, and
only then did he kneel beside her bed and call her name softly, to wake her so
he could talk to her.
Fiona
sighed softly in her sleep and then opened her eyes, smiling when she saw her
intended. "Top o' the mornin' to ye, me luv," she said. "Isn't it
a grand thing to be wakin' up and seein' yer face the first thing?"
He
smiled, leaning down and kissing her, and said softly, "Not half as grand
as seein' yours, love. Fiona, we....we have to talk, about - well, about
somethin' I've done that will affect you as well." God, help me through
this, he prayed.
"Talkin'
is it?" she said, sitting up in the bed. "Me fae friends told me there
was a bit of a blow on the outside, and that I wa' not to leave the garden until
it was over. Is everyone alright?" A look of worry crossed her face.
"Well,
there've been some injuries, an' quite a bit of destruction, but all in all, it
looks like everyone will be all right; th' other clergy and I have been up all
night makin' sure all who needed shelter had it. But there's somethin' else I
have ta tell ya. Fiona, when the storm broke, and I finally had a chance to
leave th' church to come and check on ya, I did, but I - I found you lyin' here
asleep, with...well, your covers had come off, and I - well, I needed to go
outside and cool off a bit. So I dunked my head into the water of the nearest
fountain, but it didn't do anything except....well, increase the pressure.
Endora saw me, and she explained that it was - it was her fountain, and since
I'd ducked my head twice, that the first time we lay together, you will become
pregnant with twins!" He bowed his head, not knowing how she was going to
take that bit of news.
Fiona
looked at him, wondering if he had gone daft. But he was obviously dead serious.
"Twins is it now?" she said after a moment. "Won't that be a
grand way to begin our marriage!"
He
looked at her, his eyes a mix of amazement and gratitude. "You mean you -
you won't mind, startin' a family so soon?" Of course, being a modern man,
he was used to women putting off families to do other things first.
"Isn't
it me Catholic duty?" she chuckled, placing her hand in his.
His
reply to her had nothing to do with words; instead, he drew her close, letting
the cover slip down, and kissed her, long and tenderly. One thing was for sure;
that wedding had better come soon. After all, he certainly couldn't risk dunking
his head in any more fountains!
