A Day at Camelot

By Donna and Abby

Christmas was always magical at Camelot.  As the Holidays approached, everyone inside the golden walls felt it coming, and people walked around with smiles on their faces.

The population had been growing as of late! Not too long after the arrival of Leopold Mountbatten, Alexander Hartdegen and the Doyle family, there was an influx of young, handsome men and ladies. The King and Queen were delighted, and as each and every one of them swore their allegiance to the Royal Couple, excitement filled the air. But there was even more reason to celebrate than just having more residents in and around the castle! Just recently, during dinner in the Great Hall, King Arthur had stood up and proudly announced that the Royal Prince would be having a sister or brother before the harvest of next year!

During this feeling of celebration, several of the couples who had been wooing for some time now finally decided to ask the King for permission to wed.

He gave it gladly of course, especially to one young couple in particular! Souris, the shy mouse fae, had given her heart to Phillipe Gaston. It was obvious that she had given more than her heart to him from her growing belly. So, there was no doubt that they should be the first ones wed!

Souris was a little embarrassed about it, but not Phillipe!  He was quite proud of his accomplishment, and took the gentle ribbing of the knights with good grace.  As for the knights, some of them were thinking of settling down, as well.

One of them was Phillipe’s mentor, Captain Navarre! He and Faline had taken it slow, building up a relationship first rather than just rushing into what each one knew would be a lifelong bonding. Even though she carried a small portion of Isabeau’s spirit with her, Faline was her own person! In the quietness of the stables on day, he had pledged his love to her, and now it was time to make the same pledge to her in public.

That marriage alone would have pleased the royal couple, but there were more! Sir Patrise had come to them in private, along with the pretty dark haired handmaiden named Janet, telling them that he had honorable attentions toward her, and wanted to make her a lady of honor instead of just a pleasant bed companion. Guinevere in particular was very pleased with his attitude. She was very protective of her handmaidens!

No sooner had Patrise announced his intentions, and had been given the Royal’s blessing on it, did another couple ask for an audience. This one was not unexpected at all! Sir Robin of Locksley came, the blushing Mauve at his side, asking permission to take her as his bride. It was past time, since she was already carrying his child, but he did not bring that up!

Of course, this was just icing on the cake to the royal couple.  "Perhaps we shall have a giant nuptial celebration!"  Though he wondered if it might not be more enjoyable to fill the weeks until Christmas with one wedding after another.  Certainly Camelot enjoyed their parties.

It was decided though to let each couple have their own special day. It certain kept Darius busy, but he was only too happy to be so. Desmond Doyle, who had moved to Glenerin with this three children, was commissioned to decorate not only the chapel for these grand occasions, but a special bridal bower as well! They wouldn't be the only ones to use it. Word had come from the town of Edan that one of the priests there, Father Ralph, wanted to marry young Hope MacDonald during the Yuletide celebrations at Camelot! That certainly was good news!

During all this, several other couples were being looked at as possible candidates for the next wedding. The most obvious one was Amanda and Sir Lancelot, but the young Immortal woman was having difficulty adjusting to domestic life, and the handmaidens ended up looking after her child more often than not. Lancelot loved both her and Darrel with all his heart, but was that enough for Amanda?

Now that Jeannette was no longer around, Count Vronsky had turned his full attentions toward Lady Sabina, but as of yet, nothing had come of it. Sir Gawain was still being seen in the company of Lady Keitha a great deal, and rumors were going around that Sir deBracy was interested in one of the newer ladies as well as being seen with one of the prettier handmaidens, a girl named Heather. It looked like things were going to be very interesting around the castle!
