THE AUSSIE SPIRIT
Fights them Flames
Again
Tuesday 8th October,2002
ENGADINE....NSW
Tuesday the 10th October,2002 dawned with treacherous weather conditions.
Unseasonally high temperatures, high winds and low humidity, all the things
required for a fire disaster.
Sadly the people of Engadine were not spared,
10 homes lost in a matter of minutes...No Man or Machine would ever of stopped
this fire without some loss....11 homes damaged.
But the number of homes saved when such a ferocious fire was licking
at their heels shows once again the Might and Strength of the Volunteers of
the New South Wales, Rural Fire Service.
We must also think of the people whose homes are still under threat with fires
still burning throughout our state.
And of the Volunteers who will fight these fires until every ember is
extinguished.
