December 25th 2001 ...Grays Point responds to an Out of Area Call....
Lower Blue Mountains HERE we come
2am Christmas Morning....and they didnt even see Santa.
A long day....NO Christmas Pudding to be had...
But they are NOT alone
Thousands will Walk beside them
For those at home......the Christmas lunch was hard to swallow
Eat on the run, as call after call came in
We see smoke we feel ash....
Where is the FIRE?
Check it out .....take another look
No NOTHING just smoke and ash from the Mountains
The sun is covered a giant golden ball in the sky is what we see
Then a turn of the head....
OH NO......
Giant smoke plumes to the South East
Fire that was once again to turn her fury on us
Heathcote, Waterfall, Helensburg Stanwell Tops
The National Park
So many more yet to fall
Too much carnage too many homes lost to her flames
Where did New Years Eve go.....did we MISS that too..
Has it gone up in flames like so much else
HAPPY NEW YEAR ......is it..?
Recruits from all our States arrive
Our foot sore Fire Fighters need a break
15,000 Men and Women give their All
3rd January 2002 and still no reprieve
Still more homes lost
Still new outbreaks
Still they wont give in
The FLAMES will not beat them
But WHEN will it end.
