RHODA  DAVIS (JAMES M.3 ANDERSON, JACOB2, JOHN1) was born January 10, 1870 in KY, and died August 04, 1935 in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Jay Co., IN.  She married JOHN RILEY DAVIS December 22, 1887 in Campbell Co., TN, son of ISAAC DAVIS and MARY SHARP.  He was born December 15, 1871 in Newcomb, TN, and died September 1964 in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Jay Co., IN.

OBITUARY -  JOHN DAVIS 92, Is Dead
   John R. Davis, 92, a retired farmer and former resident of Jackson Township,  died Tuesday morning at a Richmond hospital.  He had been in failing health four years.
   He was born Dec. 15, 1871, in Campbell County, Tenn., the son of Isaac and Mary (Sharp) Davis, and was married in December, 1888 to Rhoda Davis who preceded him in death Aug. 4, 1935.
   He is survived by two sons, Jack Davis, Lexington, and Harvey Davis, Jackson Township;  three daughters, Mrs. Oliver Wolford, Pennville;  Mrs. Ralph Roser, Portland, and Mrs. Mary Rosa, Celina; 27 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren
and 20 great-great grandchildren.  He was a member of the Baptist Church of Pleasant View, KY.
   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home.  Rev. OBITUARY - WILLIAM DAVIS DIES SUDDENLY
Body of Former Sheller Co. Employee To Be Returned from KY
   William J. Davis, 54, former Portland resident, died suddenly at his home in Milton, Ky., Sunday following a heart attack.  While residing in Portland he was employed as a fireman at the Sheller Manufacturing company, having moved to Kentucky about two years ago.
   The deceased was born in Kentucky Mar. 8, 1889.  He is survived by the widow the former Mildred Fogle, the father, John R. Davis, two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Worthington and Mrs. Rhoda Hamilton and one son, Clarence, all of California.
   Five grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters also survive;  A.J. Davis of Milton, Harvey Davis of Bryant, Mrs. Mary Rosa and Mrs. Rosetta Wolford of Portland and Mrs. Almeda Roser of Milton.  The mother, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Union Chapel church in Jackson township, Rev.  Paul Logan officiating.  Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery.

OBITUARY - DAVIS RITES ON TUESDAY
   Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home for Portland resident Andrew J. Davis.  Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant.  Military rites will be in charge of the Portland veteran organizations.  Friends may call at the funeral home.  Davis, 70, died suddenly at 6:45 p.m. Friday following a heart attack at his home at 1314 Ben Hawkins St.
   Davis was born May 30, 1895, at Jellico, Tenn., the son of John R. and Rhoda Anderson Davis.  He married Dellar Caddell on April 21, 1919.  Davis was a veteran of World War I.
   In addition to the widow, survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Ellis (Rhoda) Hudson and Mrs. John (May) Brinson, Portland;  Mrs. James (Faye) Traverso, and Mrs. Charles (Kathleen) Ridenour, Sacramento, Calif.;  Mrs. Alvin (Dellarie) Hatleli, Askov, Minn.;  Mrs. Russell (Ethelene) Williams, Muncie;  three sons, Raymond Davis, Wolf Lake; Lawrence Davis, Pennville;  JR Davis, Woodville, Ohio;  27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Davis, Jackson Twp.;  three sisters, Mrs. Mary D.    Mary D. Rosa, 80, 233 Jill Ave., Celina, Ohio, died Monday afternoon at the Caylor-Nichol Clinic in Bluffton after an extended illness. A former Portland resident, she had worked for 17 years at the Jay Garment Co. before her retirement.   Born Mar. 6, 1902 in Whitley Co., Ky., she was the daughter of John R. and Rhoda (Anderson) Davis.
   Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Duane (Rosetta) Dunmoyer, Albany; Mrs. Gilbert (Ellen) Bear, Muncie; Mrs. Paul (Rhoda) Hassan and Mrs. Rex Spriggs, Celina, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Almeda Roser, North Highlands, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Oliver Wolford, Pennville; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dellar Davis, Portland; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
   Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home in Portland  Rev. Herschel Burkett will officiate.  Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, West of Bryant.
   Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.  The family will be present at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Oliver Wolfords wed 50 years.
   Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Wolford, 290 W. Maple St., Pennville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Sunday, May 14 with an open house from 2-4 p.m. at their residence.  A family dinner will be held at 12 p.m. at the Emburs Restaurant, the same day.
   The couple was married May 27, 1922 at the home of Rev. Joseph I. Black at Kokomo.  Mrs. Wolford is the former Rosetta Davis.  Both were former residents of Kokomo until they moved to Jay County in 1933.
   Mrs. Wolford is a former employee of the Jay Garment Company, Portland.  Her husband retired from Avco New Idia, Coldwater, Ohio in 1969.
   They are the parents of two children, Charles E. Wolford, Bryant, and John M. Wolford, Muncie.  They also have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   The couple asks that gifts be omitted.  Friends and relatives are invited the event.

Nancy Wolford, Pennville, dies at 75
Nancy Rosetta Wolford, 75, a resident of West maple Street, Pennville, died early today at the Cooper Rest Home in Bluffton, following an extended illness.
   Born Feb. 22, 1906, in Jellico, Ky., she was the daughter of John R. and Rhoda (Anderson) Davis.  She was married May 27, 1922 to Oliver B. Wolford, who survives.  Mrs. Wolford was a retired employee of Jay Garment Co., Portland was a member of the Nazarene Movement.
   Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Charles E. Wolford, Bryant, and John M. Wolford, Muncie; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rosa, Celina, Ohio and Mrs. William (Almeda) Wilson, California; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
   Services are set for Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Portland.  Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant.
   Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.  The family will be present from 2-5 and 7-9 Tuesday.
