| I have often wondered about Vardiman Anderson. He appears to have remained in Pulaski all his life while the others came and went. Vardiman is a name used in the Collins family. I think he was in Grayson Co., VA listed with other Andersons. I'll see if I can find that info. I have never found a list of children for Vardiman Anderson. Jacob was surely related to part of the Andersons in Pulaski Co., KY. Several years ago I found a Joseph Anderson mentioned in the territory papers of Indiana. This info was on microfilm at the Ft. Wayne library. I have always intended to go back and get a copy of the info and keep forgetting when I do go to the library. On these papers several men stated that they had gone into Indiana because a member of their family had been kidnapped by Indians and they followed them into Indiana. They were asking the federal government for some kind of assistance. I wonder where the Joseph of Pulaski Co., KY went to??? |
Add this to the private site and to your other site if you want. I don't know if this is the Robert Anderson mentioned on the early tax records of Pulaski Co., KY or not. Since he was in Pulaski Co., KY we might want to refer back to this info. I wish the record had stated whether he had children by first marriage. I have a record somewhere stating that either a Robert or William was back and forth in Whitley Co., KY visiting relatives and I haven't been able to find the record. The group of Andersons in Bedford Co., TN were also from Rockbridge Co., VA. I'll send that info when I come to it. Abstracts of Rev. | It's late now and I haven't got time to check my information now, but as I recall John and Sarah were living on the Clear fork of Yellow Creek in what was then Knox County, Ky. in 1808, as reflected by the county tax assessor. About that time they moved to Campbell County, TN. Incidently, in about 1876 William H. was interviewed by the Warrensburg newspaper and there were some interesting comments by him about when he first came to MO in 1833 and visited with his brothers Isaac and John both of whom had preceeded him and had Farms in Johnson County. Later John moved to a farm in Henry County, but I was under the impression that Isaac and his wife stayed in Johnson County. He was very complimentry of Isaac's wife. I will dig out the clipping which I got from the County History Museum in Warrensburg and will mail or fax it to you if you will give me a number or address. It is the best local history and genealogy I have ever seen anywhere other than in a large city. It is located in a building located between John's 1844 house and the historic former county courthouse. |

| Paul Anderson sent this info to me. I can't see a connection because we don't have any indication our Andersons were in NC. Isham Anderson (s/o Jacob and Barthena) put on his marriage record that he was born in Lee Co., VA. I don't see how this could be, but maybe Jacob was born in the area that became Lee Co. I think Lee was cut from Montgomery long after Jacob was born. I was wrong on Lee Co., VA being cut from Montgomery. I have the following notes under Isham Anderson s/o Jacob and Barthena. Mary Lou Isham Anderson notes: Isham Anderson states on his marriage license in Whitley Co., KY that his father was born in Lee Co., VA and his mother was also born in Lee Co., VA. Barthena states on census records that she was born in KY. Lee county is in southwestern Virginia. It was formed in 1793 from Russell county and the county seat is in Jonesville. Russell County is located in the far southwestern part of Virginia. In 1745 the area now contained in Russell County was formed as a part of Augusta County. Between the years 1769 and 1785 it was contained in Botetourt, Fincastle and Washington Counties. Russell County was formed in 1786 from Washington County. |
| I think the Osborne that married the Nancy Anderson lived in the Wolf Creek area of Whitley Co., KY. I will have to dig my Osborne info out. This Osborne group is part of the family of Brent Kennedy. He is the one who wrote the book on Melungeons. My Cox family was also in this area. Some of them served under Capt. Enoch Osborne. I will send the info I have on Peter Anderson when I find it. :-) He had members of his family that tie in with the Hash family. Supposedly this Hash family belongs to the Melungeons. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~anderson/va/trees/grayson.html |
