Like any other band, Acid Evangelist, also called AE (before being Acid Evangelist) experienced problems developing a good name that will stick to people’s minds.
Through brainstorming of thoughts for a name during ‘inuman sessions’, the lead vocalist of the band, Jhonile, thought of naming the band with terms that would best describe the band members and the kind of music they make.
As a result, the name ACID EVANGELIST was born. Acid, meaning having high concentration, and as performers, being sharp with music that’s ready to melt some faces.
Acid Evangelist’s material is not concentrated in just one or two topics, it could be about anything depending on their moods at a certain time, but as their topics are varied, the listener’s could surely relate to it.
BUSOG SA PANGAKO voices out the concerns of the youth on corruption and politics.
“Isipin nyo naman... na ‘di lahat nagsasarap. Makonsensya naman kayo, maraming nangangailangan, busog sa pangako (gutom na mga tao)...”
BURY SLAVERY is a song that is yearning for peace and unity amongst all of us.
“Bury slavery, bury difficulty, stop the pain, stop the hatred... Eliminate the difference between your greed and deed...”
DISORDER COVERING describes a situation of knowing too much and yet being confused of what to do or where to go, so he considers a suicidal attempt.
“Disorder covering, slowly soothing in my skin, in need of a stranger’s hand in a faraway land...”
The band’s apparel is sponsored by Dickies.
