Silver Spring, MD (AP) - Montgomery County Council man Howard Denis is calling for State Delegate Dana Dembrow to step down. Denis says for the good of all Marylanders and the citizens of Montgomery County, Dembrow should resign from the General Assembly and seek the treatment he so obviously needs.
The Montgomery County Democrat was arrested over the weekend and charged with second-degree assault for allegedly hitting his wife hard enough to bloody her nose and blacken her eyes.
Dembrow tells the Montgomery Journal he doesn't really care about his career and is trying to take care of his family right now but refused to say if he'll resign.
Dembrow's colleagues in the House of Representatives say they're saddened by the incident, but refused to comment on the situation or speculate about his political career.
