Anna felt tiny droplets of water blow into the
porch. A cold shiver tingled in her spine. Brian still wasn’t home. Anna didn’t
know how much longer she could take the suspense and cold.
She glance up,
seeing yet another car’s head lights. As always it wouldn’t turn into the
driveway. But wait! They didn’t continue straight, they started to shine
perfectly on the porch. Soon they went out and Anna heard car door slam.
I should run
But I would kill myself
once again
I’m going to stay
just please
don’t turn me away
Brian dreaded
walking out into the cold rain. As he looked towards the door to prepare to
run, a shadow caught his attention. Cautiously, Brian jogged up the stairs and
stopped under the beginning of the porch canopy.
“Hello?” he
questioned. This wasn’t adding to his ‘good mood’. The last thing he felt like
dealing with was a crazed fan. The day at the studio had been awful. Nothing
was accomplished.
Nothing
greeted Brian’s ears. “I said, hello! Is anyone here?”
Anna gathered
her strength, slowly pulling her soaked body off the swing. She knew she looked
terrible, but she wasn’t about to turn back now. “Hello, Brian.” She firmly
said.
Brian stopped
dead, cold with shock as he registered whose voice he had just heard. “Anna?”
“Yes, it’s me.”
Anna could sense joy in his voice. Maybe this wouldn’t be as hard as she
thought.
“What are you
doing here? I thought you wanted me gone. As you said: ‘I never want to see you
again’. So I gave you what you wanted. Did you change your mind?” he questioned
absolutely confused.
Anna could
tell there was about to be a catch. “No Brian. I just lied to you then.”
“Well, then
why did you lie? You know me Anna! I haven’t changed like you. At least you
claim to have.”
“Brian, I’m
sorry! I’m so extremely sorry. I never thought when I took that interview you
would talk to me or even remember me. I just had to see you then. I didn’t know
all this would happen.”
“Well, your
sorrys are too late. I gave you my heart and you completely ripped it to
shreds. I’m not going to give you a second chance. Don’t even try. Just leave.
Save yourself the agony.” Brian unlocked his door and closed it before another
word was said.
Anna starred
heart broken at the door now blocking everything. She crumpled to the ground as
tears started to return.
