Chapter 3

Nick finally reached Brian's wallet and in his relief he didn't hear the footsteps which quickly approached him. Next thing he knew he was quickly grabbed from behind and he felt a cold object placed against his forehead. He quickly kicked the wallet in hopes of kicking it somewhere where the murderer wouldn't find it because he knew Brian had put his room key in the wallet and that it clearly identified which room and hotel they were staying in. Nick's efforts proved unsuccessful as the man sensed his movement and seen the wallet Nick tried to kick away. The man bent down slowly but kept his gaze and his gun on Nick. He picked up the wallet and looked inside seeing a Kentucky Driver's License and a wallet sized photo of a group of 5 young men including the blond that was in his grasp and the young man with sandy blonde hair whose picture was on the license. After looking at the photo and license for a few moments, the man then slowly stood up and pushed Nick forcefully against the tree; pinning him down. "Was you here by yourself blondie?" hissed the man. Nick nodded his head and was greeted by the barrel of the gun forcefully hitting him in the stomach. He seen stars flash before his eyes as the wind was knocked out of him and he doubled over in pain. His captor forced Nick to his feet and again held the gun against his head and asked again in a calm voice, "Was you here by yourself blondie?" Nick again nodded his head and braced himself for the blow he figured he would receive. He knew he was risking his life by lying to this man but he also knew he would never fogive himself if he told this man where Brian was and Brian got hurt, he figured Brian had more of a purpose on this Earth so he would take the pain no matter how severe in order to protect his best friend who meant the world to him. Nick waited patiently with his eyes closed for the blow to come but it never did. He opened his eyes slowly and seen all 3 of the murderers before him. Before he knew what hit him, the strongest man grabbed Nick by his shoulders and rammed his head full force into the tree. Nick fought the darkness that surrounded him but failed and collapsed to the ground with a THUD. One of the men picked Nick's unconscious body up as the other 2 got rid of the evidence that could lead the police to them. Then all 3 of the men walked to the Ford Explorer they used as a get away car and forcefully threw Nick's body into the backseat and climbed in, starting the engine and driving away from the scene of the crime determined to find the man whose wallet they have found and make him pay for witnessing their crime.
