Chapter 14

 

Aj pulled into Nicks driveway and jogged to the door. He rang the door bell and waited for someone to answer. The door opened and Nick stood there.

"do you have to ring the bell like that" Aj grinned

"of course I do" Nick shook his head and moved aside letting Aj in.

"are you ready?" Aj asked Nick

"yeah just let me get something" Nick said as he ran to the direction of his bedroom. Aj heard laughing and the sound of someone kissing. Nick appeared with a smile

"we can go now"

"dude I knew it"

"what?" Nick said walking out the house

"don't what me you know what I'm talking about"

"actually I have no idea what your talking about" Nick said as he got into the passenger side of AJ’s car.

"you and Mel are together. I knew it" Aj said starting the car and backing out of Nicks driveway.

"dude you can't tell anyone"

"why not"

"because that's the way we want it"

"ok I won't" Nick gave Aj a look

"I won't tell Nick geez"

"ok just making sure" Nick said putting on his glasses and relaxing in the seat. Aj looked at Nick and the smile that was still on his face.

"why are you all happy?" Aj asked

"nothing"

"Nick"

"what?"

"tell me" Aj said getting impatient

"Mel's pregnant"

"what?" Aj said stepping on the breaks

"she's pregnant"

"that's great man congrats"

"I'm not the father Max is"

“oh” AJ said as he pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. They saw Kevin come out of the studio with a mad expression on his face.

" You guys are 20 minutes late!" Kevin yelled as Aj rolled his eyes but nicks smile remained on his face and kevin noticed.

" Geez kev dont have a cow." AJ said as they made there way into the studio and greeted howie and Brian.

" Dont have a cow?? We could of been done with the last of track 9 if it wasnt for you two" Kevin said as Nick sat down and stared out the window smiling.

" It wasnt my fault. he was the one who had to ki.... uh never mind lets just get recording" AJ said as he saw Nick glare at him. Howie and Brian returned glances as they made there way into the sound booth.

 

*~!~* 3 hours later *~!~*

 

Kevin rubbed his forehead as he felt his cheeks start to burn up.

" Thats the 6th time you screwed that part up nick" He yelled as Nick's smile faded and he looked around.

" huh?" He asked as Brian and Aj started to laugh and Kevin got even more frustrated.

" Stop playing games nick. we still have a meeting to do here" Kevin said as AJ and Brian stopped laughing.

" but kev...." Aj started to whine and Kev shot him a glare.

" Whine to nick, the one who keeps on screwing up" Kevin said.

" guys why dont we stop for a while and get the meeting over with and then after the meeting if we feel up to it well finish this track" Howie said as they all nodded in agreement and walked out of the sound booth over to the table to sit down.

" Anyone want something to drink, im gonna go to the pop machine down the hall" Nick asked as he got some shakes of the heads and some no's.

" Ok ill be back you guys could start discussing" nick said as he walked to the door and walked out into the hall.

" I dont know" AJ said quickly as everyone looked at him suspicously.

" Tell us AJ" Howie said

"I dunno anything about Nick amd Mel"

"what about Nick and Mel?"Kevin asked

"what?" Aj asked looking around nervously

"you just said you didn't know anything about Nick and Mel"

"uh no I didn't" Aj lied. Kevin shot Aj a look and Aj gave up.

"ok fine Nick and Mel are together"

"tell me something I don't know" Brian said leaning back in his chair his hopes of something juicier flying out the window.

"how'd you know?" Aj asked

"they were playing with eachother at the party" Brian stated

"oh" Howie said

"well thats all I know" Aj said grabbing his shirt and putting it between his thumb and forefinger. The guys watched him suspeciously waiting for him to break.

"would ya'll stop staring at me" Aj said

"were not staring"

"yeah you are" Aj whinned Aj glanced at Howie then Brian and finally Kevin.

"Mels pregnant" he said stretching his arm down on the table and laying his head on them. The door and a very happy Nick walked in. Immediatly all eyes were on him.

"uh whats up guys" he said setting the sodas on the table and taking his seat.

"we just heard man congrats" Brian stood up and walked to Nick giving him a hug.

"yeah congrats man" Howie said following Brian's lead. Nick glared at Aj.

"you just couldn't keep your mouth shut huh?"

"they forced me especially him" Aj pointed to Kevin "he was giving me the look" Nick looked at Kevin who didn't seem the least bit pleased.

"Kev before you say anything...." Nick was cut off by Kevin's hand.

"what the hell were you thinking Nick your barely legal"

"Kev..." Nick tried to cut in

"are you going to marry her?" Kevin asked

"huh?"

"the press is gonna eat this up. Youngest Backstreet Boys gets girlfriend pregnant"

"Kev i'm not the father" Nick stated

"what?" Howie, Brian, and Kevin said at the same time

"Max is the father..she told me after the party"

"oh thats even better Backstreet Girlfriend Pregnant But Wait Hes Not The Father!" Kevin said rolling his eyes. as much as the guys didn't like waht kevin was saying he did have a point.

"She needs me and I need her. Shes going through a lot right now and if i'm not there to help her then who would be. Max did a lot of crazy shit to her and I don't want her going back there. I love Mel with all my heart and I wanna be with her, i'm going to be with her and the baby. I might not be the father of the baby but i'm gonna help raise him or her and do my best" Nick took a deep breath and looked around the room.

"ok Nick if thats what you want were supporting you 110% but the press is still gonna eat it up and if you wanna keep Mel and the baby safe then i suggest you think of something to give them" Kevin stated

"why do i have to tell them anything it's my life they can just stay the hell out it"

"because there the press it's there job to be in your business it's better that you state it then to have everyone find out from a sleezy tabloid or something"

"i guess your right"

"yep" The rest of the meeting was spent thinking of something to tell the press and they all settled on the truth but leaving Max out of it and mentioning nothing about Nick not being teh baby's biological father. Kevin agreed for Nicks sake but he still wasn't cool with it.
