Chapter 10

Nick played with the piece of paper in his pocket as he looked around the very busy airport. He looked from each person to the next and none of them had a smile of there face. Why would they? Mel was leaving in less then 10 minutes and he still hadnt decided wheater or not he should give the letter to her. He looked at Mel who was playing with the strap on her purse. He could she didnt want to leave for some reason but he didnt know why. All she had told him was that she had to move on. Why cant she move on here with him and not million of miles away? he thought as Brian looked over at him giving him an " are u ok" look. Nick just shook his head and Brian frowned. Brian knew ever since he met Mel that Nick liked her even though nick didnt come out and say it but he could tell. He knew that everything would work out between them if Nick would just tell Mel he loved her. There was a beeping of the intercom and a lady's voice came on.

" Flight 898 to Chicago is now boarding" The lady said as Mel closed her eyes holding back the tears that were threatening to fall. She didnt want to leave but she had to. She knew if she stayed any longer that she would fall for Nick and it wouldnt work, not with his career. Mel stood up as she gave Brian, aj, Howie and Kevin a hug.

" If Nick's ever being an ass and you need someone to talk to call me ok?" brian said as Mel laughed and nodded.

" Ok Bri whatever you say" Mel said as she let go and moved on to Leah.

" Who would of guess i'd be the one stayin and not you" Leah said as Mel smiled and gave her a hug.

" Yeah well i hope everything works out with you and Michael and you better call me" Mel said as they let go and noticed they were both crying.

" I'll call i promise" Leah said as Mel looked at Nick and more tears fell down her cheeks. She hugged him and didnt want to let go.

" I'll miss you Melly" Nick said as he felt a tear fall down his cheek but wiped it away before anyone could see.

" I'll miss you too Nickers" Mel said as Nick took the paper out of his pocket. He looked at it and handed it to Mel.

" Dont read this until your back home alright?" Nick said as Mel nodded and they let go.

" Ill call you as soon as i get there" Mel said as Nick hugged her again. They let go and Mel smiled as them and picked up her purse and her luggage.

" Bye guys" She said giving them all one last hug before walkin to the terminal and disappearing.

Aj glanced at Leah who was staring out the window.

"Leah" Aj said getting her attention "what you thinking bout"

"nothing just stuff"

"like what?"

"like why did I stay here, well I know why I stayed"

"for him" Aj said bitterly. Leah ignored Ajs comment and continued to talk.

"I have to find another job a place of my own. I can't live off you forever"

"it's no problem I like having you around"

"but what about Michael I got a feeling you two arent getting along"

"oh him"

"see why do you always refer to Michael as him, why can't you say his name"

"I don't like the guy"

"why not"

"I just don't" Aj said pulling into the driveway and shutting off the car. They both got out the car and walked to the door.

"hey you" They both turned to see Michael pulling up in the driveway with his head stuck out the window. Aj rolled h is eyes and unlocked the door while Leah met Michael half way and jumped into his arms. Aj walked in the house and slammed the door.

Mel sat on her bed and reached in her pocket. Taking out teh letter she unfolded and looked at teh writing. It was Nicks writing. She pulled her legs under her and sat indian style on the bed and began to read the letter.

Mel,

By now your at home or you didn't wait till you go thome like I said. But any way. I started writing this letter the day of your party. Theres no other way to explain how I feel then to write it down. to put it simply I love you, I'm in love with you. Your my best friend in the whole world and thats why it took me so long to tell you. My feelings for you go further than friend It's so much more than that.I don't want to ruin our friendship over this but i couldn't hold it in any longer I had to tell you. I hope you feel the same way...boy I really hope. If you don't feel the same it's ok. I just couldn' let you go without telling you how i feel.

Mel folded the letter back up and sat it on the nightstand beside her bed. Her mind was racing and she didn't know how to react. She wanted to tell Nick how she really felt but what about their friendship, she cherished it to much to ruin it. She looked back at the letter and smiled. She picked it up and stood up walking out her room and out of her apartment.

Leah gave Michael one last kiss before walking in the house. Aj sat on the couch staring at the TV.

"whats your problem?" Leah asked

"I don't have a problem" Aj replied

"whatever" Leah said waving her arm and walking away. Aj grabbed her arm stoping her.

"what are you doing? let go of me" Leah said Aj only pulled her closer to him, He stared down at her his eyes sending chills down her spine. AJ lowered his head and captured her lips in kiss. Aj let go of Leah's arm and Leah took a step back breaking the kiss.

"aj we can't do this" Leah said Aj took a step closer to Leah and wraped his arm around her waist pulling her closet. He kissed her again this time with more passion. His hand loosed around her waiste and Leah's hand moved up his back to the back of his neck. They were so caught up in the kiss that they didn't see the door open.

"What the hell is goinf on" Leah and Aj jumped apart. Leah looked at Michael and then at Aj.

"it's not what it looks like" Leah said

"it looks like you were kissing him" Michael said pointing towards Aj. Aj took that as a cue and walked away but staying in ear view.

"ok maybe it is what it looks like but let me explain"

"theres nothing to explain Leah. I can't believe you. how could you do this to me"

"I'm sorry" Leah whispered

"I loved you I was willing to do anything for you and you cheat on me"

"I didn't cheat it was just a kiss. it meant nothing"

"save it ok, it's over" Michael said walking towards the open door. He turned around and looked at Leah.

"oh and these were for you" Michael said tossing a bouquet of white roses at Leah's feet and walking out. Leah picked up the roses and her eyes filled with tears. A kiss a stupid kiss.

"Leah you ok?" Aj asked coming back into the room. Leah turned to face Aj.

"he left" Leah said throught her tears. Aj walked to Leah and hugged her. Leah cried on Aj's shoulder then realized that he was the reason Michael left. She pushed Aj away and glared at him.

"stay away from me I just lost the one man that I loved because of you" Leah cried

"me" Aj said pointing to himself

"hes gone, he wants nothing to do with me and its your fault" Leah said

"Leah I'm sorry" AJ moved closer to Leah trying to calm her

"NO! leave me alone, just stay away from me" Leah cried she pushed pass Aj and up the steps to her room slamming the door.
