Josh's View
There
is news now that they have found the cure for the AIDS and have tried it on
numerous people around the USA. We have had word that the stuff is here
in Tampa and at Tampa General we have had word that there is a young
girl dying of AIDS and the family hasn't decided yet what to do. All we
can do now is pray that they make the right decision.
"Mrs.
Parker I need for you to sign this form stating that you do wish your
daughter to recieve this drug," The nurse said as my flashback of
the earlier news cast came to mind.
"How long before we know if it has worked?" My mom asked
scribbling her name down on the piece of paper.
"It can be anywhere from 24-48 hours before there are any signs, the other
problem might be if she has an allergic reaction, but the chances are very slim
of that happening. I will be back in an hour to check on her,"
She said after she injected the contents and leaving the room. I
slumped back into the chair and fell into a light slumber.
A Few Days Later
Dawn's View
Everyone has
been by to see Melissa. We haven't heard any promising news that the
"cure" was working for her, but our hopes were high that she pull
through it all. She has opened her eyes more than once since they gave
her the drug, but the doctor's haven't really said anything more.
"Mom you need to get some sleep," Josh said standing up and
walking over to her.
"Hunny I am alright. I am worried about Melissa and don't want to
leave her side," She said in protest.
"Mom it won't help any of us if you get sick and wind up in the hospital
with her," I said walking over to her other side.
"Come on mom, Nick or some one will take you back to the hotel to get some
sleep and we will keep you updated on Melissa if anything changes,"
Josh said in a stern yet calm tone. Why are men always the strong
ones?
"Alright, but if anything changes you call me the second you hear
anything," She said standing up with the help of Josh and I.
Nick and Brian drove her to the hotel. I looked back over at
Melissa and she seemed to have more color in her face, and actually had looked
the best that I have seen her since we had gotten there, but deep down you
think the worse is going to happen.
Hours Later
Hannah's View
I woke up to
the phone ringing. I rolled over on my side and saw that it was 2 in the
morning. I groaned, but then remembered that I had come back to the hotel
to get some sleep, and I knew at that moment to pick up the phone. But it
was like the phone was red hot, like trying to tell me not to pick it up.
I sat up in bed and thought about it for a few minutes, and then finally
picked it up, not knowing what was going come from the other line.
