Chapter 21

Few Days Later

Melissa's View

"Mel are you feeling alright?"  Andreas asked me as we were waiting for her parents to arrive here.  Nick went to pick them up at the airport.

"Yeah I am fine.  Just a little tired,"  I mumbled and half spoke it.  The truth was I felt like crap and wanted to climb into a bed and go to sleep.

"Are you sure Mel?  You look like the dumps," Andrea said trying to lighten the mood.

"Yes Andrea I am fine,"  I snapped back at her as we waited for her parents to arrive here.

"Do you have to be so snappy?"  She asked in a snobby tone.  I glared at her and she backed off.  Where is Nick?

Meanwhile....In The Car

Nick's View

"How have the girls been doing?"  Andrea's mom asked trying to keep all of our minds off the subject of Andrea being in the hospital.

"Good they don't want to go back, but they will have to here next week.  But Melissa and her both have had a blast here and I have enjoyed having them,"   I said smiling in the mirror back at them.  They looked worried as shit, but they probably would feel better after seeing Andrea.  I pulled into the parking lot of the hospital and we headed up to the floor that Andrea was on.

In Andrea's Room

"Melissa whats wrong?"  I asked watching her gasp for air.  I turned around in bed and smacked the callnurse button.  Two seconds later my nurse walked
in.

"Whats going...."  She stopped in mid sentence and ran out of the room to get help.  I heard my parents talking outside, I wanted to scream, but before I could some one came in and picked Melissa up and carried her out.  I started crying so hard.  I was more scared than anything.

"Andrea whats going on?"  Nick asked running into the room.

"Melissa just collapsed over and couldn't breathe,"  I said as more tears slipped down my cheeks.  I was so happy to see my parents, but I had a new found worry about Melissa.  I watched Nick run back out of the room to go find out about her.  I shut my eyes and let more tears trickle down my cheeks.

A Few Hours Later

Dawn's View

"MOM!  GET ON THE PHONE NOW!"  I screamed as I heard the sudden news about Melissa's collapsed from Nick in Florida.

"What's going on?"  She asked taking the phone out of my hand.  I watched her worried expression turn into something I had never seen before.  Nick wouldn't tell me what was going on, but I could tell it was bad.

"Go get packed!  Tell Josh too, your father won't care about this at all,"   She said running upstairs.  I followed behind her and told Josh to pack a suitcase that we were headed to Florida and that something was wrong with Melissa.  I said a few quick prayers that it wasn't a major thing and that everything would be alright.  

Back In Florida

Nick's View

After hanging up the phone with Melissa's mom, I walked down the eerie hall of the ICU floor.  The doctor said that her organs were showing signs of failing and that she didn't have much time left.  I wanted to cry, but I knew I had to be strong for Andrea and Melissa's family.  Why did this happen now?  We had a few days left of our vacation, please dear lord let her pull through this, or let them find the cure.
