Computer Keyboards Vacuum keyboards regularly using the soft brush attachment of your cleaner. To dislodge particals of dirt and dust turn the keyboard upside down and hit it a few times with the flat of your hand. Please excercise Caution and Do Not Hit It Hard. Just a light rap will do. You can also use compressed air, available just about anywhere in electronic stores. For cleaning the keys, We use cotton swabs dampened with alcohol to remove the oils and dirt. Make sure that it is unplugged and your computer is shut down. There is a commercial product on the market made specifically for cleaning the keys.
Air Conditioner's Clean or change the air conditioner's filter once a month during the warm seasons. This helps to keep the air conditioner operating as efficiently as possible. The plastic foam filters can be washed with a mild soap and rinsed thoroughly with warm water. In high traffic areas the coils need to be cleaned (vacuumed) regularly or you can hire a professional cleaning service to do this for you. It is best that you have your air conditioner recieve routine maintenance checks by a professional to ensure it's optimum peformance during the summer months and it will also help to make it last for years to come.
Computer monitors, Television Screens These are one of the worst dust magnets around. They attract the dust because of all the static electricity and accumulate the dust more readily than most items in the home next to electric baseboard heat. To clean, do not spray a glass cleaner directly on the screen. Wet a rag or papertowel sparingly, then wipe down the screen. Make sure your computer monitor or television is turned off before cleaning the screen.
Heating Systems You can vacuum electric baseboard heating elements, radiators and fins regularly during the heating months to help keep them at their maximum operating capacity. Change or wash any filters in a warm-air heating system at least twice during the heating season as well as during the summer if you also have a Central Cooling System.
Smoke Detectors Replace batteries at least once or twice during a 6 month cycles. You can vacuum the vents of the smoke detector to remove any dust particles that may have built up at least twice a year. If the detector's cover is removable GENTLY vacuum the sensor chamber.
Central Heating and Cooling vents on walls and ceilings These vents can be vacuumed to remove the dust particles on the intake and exhaust plates. You may also choose to wash these vents with a mild detergent and warm water soaked rag to remove any buildup of dirt and dust. By dusting the vents at least once a month during the operating season this will help to ensure that there will be minimal dust particles floating thru the rooms.
