Advent IX. The Bridge
Dividing the way of the bridge at its surmounting height, for it bends upward and downward, is the stem of a tree, a saproling silver-skinned and lofty. The bridge narrows, so that each aisle admits but one. The pilgrims file along the ruddy planks, taking routes to either side, and I with them.
