BREEDS OF DOGS - HOUNDS
The Basenji
The Basenji was considered to be a pariah dog but only in 1930 were they
recognised as a seperate breed with typical characteristics. This breed
originated in Sudan, Zaire and Central Africa.
The Basenji dogs do not bark and usually have bells tied on their necks to
enable the hunters to follow them in the forests having thick vegetation. They
are usually used to hunt small game like rhodents, deers and duikers.
