Challenging the thoughts and ideas of others and of our own is the hallmark of Gens Aenea Apollonia. This is not done to be mean spirited but is done in the pursuit of a more defined truth. The rational and stoic pursuit of truth is always preferred when making decisions (in other words, leave Egotistical, Emotional, and Passive/Aggressive behavior behind). The family holds great value in the larger matters of Nova Roma society and the Greater Earth and what we as individuals can do to improve it.

We hold a heavy importance on the blending of Objective and Subjective thinking. Laws (legal and mathematical) as objective, are applicable to everything we perceive and by which we are governed. Subjective is how the individual interprets their perceptions of the core objective laws through the Arts of Music, Sports, Writing, Poetry, etc. The Academics, the Arts, and Athletics (the 3rd "A") is where this blending occurs. We are therfore encouraged to expand our learning and activity to excel in each of these categories.

As an example, in the Study of Music, Music Theory represents the "Laws" by which tonal harmony is governed. Improvisation is the individual interpreting (sometimes bending) those laws. Athletics involves the skillful self-awareness of the body to express those laws. Our principle dieties are Phoebus Apollo (God of the Arts, Truth, Light, Healing, and Archery) and Minerva (Virgin Goddess of Wisdom, Reason, Purity, and Warcraft in the context of protection of the State). Our prefered classical authors are Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, and Vergil.
