Ramdrive is faster than hardisk available and it actually can enhance performance if use correctly.
Using a Ramdisk On XP is excellent as you get SPEED and STABILITY.
Here's a way for Windows 2000/XP users to load their Internet and downloads to Ramdisk and enjoy good performance out of it.
Download RAMdisk XP.
How to install Ramdisk
- Double click on the installer

- Driver letter..  leave as s:
- You can choose whether to backup the data you put in your ramdrive. (don't have too)
- About 10 seconds you'll hear a sound it will be up and running.
Speed up your internet with RamDisk
- Go to Tools >> internet options >> Delete Files & Delete Cookies.
- Once Xp finishes deleting them all, go to SETTINGS and change the size to 5MB.
- We now need to redirect the Internet Explorer Caches to the New Ramdrive.
- Open up the Internet Explorer -> TOOLS -> Setting (Temporary Internet Files) -> Move Folder.   Now direct it to your newly created Ramdrive.
- Note : 5MB should be sufficient enough to cache "Internet Files" amd you will be freeing 25MB for your Download Cache.

You will be amaze at the difference in speed
Downloading with Ramdisk XP

- Redirect your download manager default download location to your new "Ramdrive".  Download Accelerator users can do so by going to
Download Accelerator -> Downloads -> Options and change the "Default Download Directory" path to your Ramdrive.  Close and save the settings.

- If your using any kind of FTP Manager or Client, redirecting the Local Intial Folder to the Ramdrive would boost performance too.
You will really notice that your uploads fly.
