Behind the Smash

It was quite a while back when I had arranged a little Super Smash Bros. match between some of my Cheeba Crew friends against some Irvinites.  Now having played the one of them and winning, I thought Hatrick could make a quick buck off of him, since he thought he was the shit.  So a day was arranged in which they were to meet us at Hatrick’s.  Arriving with two sub-bosses, the mother boss had a look of confidence.  A ten was placed as the first sub-boss stepped up to the plate.  In a stunning sweep, Hatrick oust sub-boss one.  Taking up the controller, sub-boss one wagers a twenty.  Though more of a challenge, he is soon defeated.  Finally, it was the mother boss’s turn.  He chose Donkey Kong as his character, with Hatrick choosing Link.  This was probably the highlight match of the night.  Their stage is Hyrule Castle, a good stage for both characters.  Within minutes of GO, DK is hit by a barrage of bombs and boomerangs.  After what must have been at least 15 bombs and boomerangs, Donkey Kong was still chugging on with a vicious 350+ damage; however, even at that much damage inflicted Hatrick knew he was in a bind.  The barrage was great for causing damage, but it lacked the needed killing power.  The problem was, whenever he tried to get into distance for a kill move, he was instantly grabbed.  Soon Link was flung off the stage to his demise.  Now this was the sad scene that was repeated life after life, except for one excellent nazi by DK.  In the end, mother boss came out the victor.  The next day when talking with sub-boss zero (the tutorial), I found out sub-boss two though Hatrick was “shady” and “suspicious,” because of a faulty controller.  Now I can understand being peeved at losing twenty bucks because of a bad controller, but do you really need to go and accuse him of being shady?  I mean, it’s not like you asked him for another one and he said no.  It was you, who decided not to switch.  So next time you’re beat don’t go and automatically think that they were trying to hustle you.
